  1. Dont think they can be road registered now because of the width, im ringing round a few dealers today to get a idea of what i should be paying, im thinking mid £20s would be a good deal.

Im looking to keep it for a long term investment, will be getting full restoration from me, the pack is low houred which is good.

Saw 2 sell at auction last year, they both  looked rough, the engines didnt sound very healthy, they made £20000

Oh...I also just found a box of fire extinguisher brackets (the narrow type). Second-hand take offs but many in good condition. Any use?

The sabre is fully kitted out thanks,

Are you at stoneleigh on a trade stand?

    hi diesel1

keep an eye on gunstar.co.uk. I have used a chap called Kev on there for a Bren and he was very good.

If you struggle to find a deactivated sten then a Model Gun replica might work for you. MG-Props.co.uk have a good selection and they field strip unlike some deacts.

Thanks for that,  got sorted with a deactivated bren and sten, been talking to crosefire today about a 30 and 50 cal replica as there dont seem to be any deactivated ones about, picked up a M1 carbine at newark militaria show on sunday for the jeep.

Next on the list is GPMG for the sabre !

im wanting a bren and sten gun to start with, then 30 and 50 cal browning

  5. I fitted a digital temp gauge to my sabre, its 2x1 inch in size (£3.50 on ebay), has its own batteries, very thin temp lead was inserted down the side of the hose that goes back to the radiator, new batteries twice a year, been fitted for 2 years now, runs at a constant 80 c

  6. Im looking into giving tank rides with my sabra and abbott, ive read all the threads on the subject about liability insurance but no companys have been mentioned about this.

Ive rung many up but none are intrested or can point me in the right direction, i know it will be expensive but need some insurance company details that may do this, any help will be gratefully recieved.

  7. Andrew you are correct.

We have prepped our Sabre but have not lifted it yet.

Remove the left seat in the turret first, frees up quite a bit of space.

The traverse mechanism needs to come off, carefully

You need to undo any wiring that goes to the radios at the back, I think we undid the connection at the turret master switch in the back right corner, batteries removed first etc.

Also you will want to separate the basket from the turret by undoing the bolts that hold the Y bracket in the rear right.

The turret lock which is front left is the last thing to remove.

We were given this valuable information by a gent from this forum, Sirhc, who we thank for that.

As yet we have not had time to lift the turret but will in a week or so.

The turret is now off, was a easy task apart from 1 bolt which could not be found for some time, front right corner, with the turret in the down position the bolt cannot be seen, it is only found with the turret fully raised and then not seen but you can feel it!

Thanks Robin, both seats are removed as i recently cleaned the fuel tank out, that was a easier job that i thought it would be, will be attempting to remove the turret tomorrow, will let you know how i get on!
