nice place, canada......lived in toronto for quite some time......can. Stuff much rarer than us !sadly i am not the owner of any hmvs. I do however collect historic ordnance of all types and one day hope to obtain something appropriate for one of my brens. I should like to take the opportunity to pay tribute to a good friend and a true pioneer canadian collector of hmvs, the late don smith. I fondly remember his passion for collecting all things military which included an m4 [a3e8?] sherman [twin diesel/76mm] by the name of carol. Thanks for the ride don,you really made my day. -

clever clogs !!welcome, nothing wrong with the niva, very capable and comfortable vehicle. Far nicer ride than a series land rover. Do you know the origin of the name? A finnish river, also the finnish word for mud. -
very nice ! post lots of pix !!Hi All,I collected this yesterday, I think a running restoration... I said no more after the Chev but its cute with a nice history, apparently was in a John Lennon film among others.
1942 Ford fitted with a Ford 4D diesel have I lost the plot ? Brakes needs doing, front tires blown out. The seller had three days to move it so I did a spur of the moment exchange.

verry...verry ....niiiiiice !!so i was up late last night looking for info on the cadillac and packard based street ambulances used state side by the u.s. Medical dept. And base hospitals during the 30’s 40’s and 50’s.While not shedding any new light on this subject for myself i found an interesting photo showing a ‘new’ 1942 caddy next to the old 34 panel.

i am now more interested in finding info on that 34. :-p
i did somehow manage to stumble upon an australian photo archive with an international harvester collection. Included in the collection were several delivery photos of military contract orders. http://museumvictoria.com.au/collections/themes/3158/international-harvester-ih-collection?start=1. Also in the collection are d30 and k5 based trucks, and (my favorite) militarized d2 utilities.
The captions for these say that these ambulances were for the raaf.

if its a tiger tank........dont bother !!hii wonder if anyone can help please. We moved into our house a few years ago and have been told by a neighbor that a tank was buried in our garden after world war two. We boohooed the idea but this weekend he has categorically stated that this is the case. Is there anyway of finding out if this is true - we would appreciate any advice.
Many thanks.
