  1. While researching about the CMP C60X, I stumbled on a C60X chassis drawing, from a danish army lubrication chart. Due to being a rare subject, I tought it would be of more general interest, beyond my simple modeling interest, so I will post it in some places, with a link to the original site, that has also some nice photos. My thanks for Ole Andreasen for the public posting of this file. source: https://www.facebook.com/groups/841061305956512/ (go to files, look for "Chevrolet CAN - C60X - haandbog - alle typer.pdf", its all in danish unfortunatly.) I hope this can be usefull!
  2. From a russian page: Source: http://www.gruzovikpress.ru/article/11039-avtomobili-vms-i-vvs-armii-ssha-perioda-vtoroy-mirovoy-voyny-neizvestnye-soyuzniki/
  3. Find a new image of remains of the U-70 wrecker, in the "Haul of Fame Museum". Seems to be taken in 2016. It would be great if someone restored it, looks to be a rare one. This image is a frame from a youtube video, by Anthony Lucibello, dated 06/01/2016. source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeDHdVJCf_M
  4. Was searching about RAF runway caravans, and find this post. I never seen anything about a " 2-wheel 8-berth Personnel", please anyone as more information about this? Many thanks, G_Mendes
  5. Hi Larry, WW2, but it could have been used post war, and finally sold as surplus and use is some farm.
  6. Just seen this today, its a RAF Brockhouse MK2 900gal Fuel Bowser. RAF had also the same tank boby mounted in one "Eagle Engeneering Co" trailer chassis. The frame front/rear ends is one way to tell the difference, the Eagle ones were straight. Suspension attachments were also different. The C channel in the frame is turned outside. The image bellow I believe that is from a Eagle trailer. G_Mendes source http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?17475-RAF-Fuel-Bowser-needs-saving-(WW2-)&p=318953#post318953
  7. I have two of them alredy! :-D N.O.S, what about the fuel trailer restoration? Cheers, G_Mendes
  8. A shot showing a autocar U-70 wrecker in wartime at Bronson Field, 1944. Look at the upper left corner of the photo, the cab and boom are visible in the background. source: http://s1068.photobucket.com/user/mam121061/media/Bronson%20Field/14207801_1799470056965649_4050128230012050936_o_zpsdfdi38pn.jpg.html
  9. Hello Sir, Please could you put more photos? Its look to be a very interesting truck, and would be a great restoration! Cheers, G_Mendes
  10. Hi, The truck is a Autocar U-70(U90?), with a tanker body. It is a strong possibility that it was previously a US Navy truck, as I remember to read somewhere that both 2x4 and 4x6 U70/U90 were used by this service for use in Naval land airbases. I researched this truck before: http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?38315-Autocar-U-9064-navy-tank-truck-searching-for-information http://www.trucksplanet.com/catalog/model.php?id=1892 http://www.trucksplanet.com/catalog/model.php?id=1930 http://g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=221583 http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20225 http://www.milinfo.org/article-autocar-u70-de-l-us-navy-au-1-50eme-sun-motor-co-121671514.html http://www.milinfo.org/2015/03/autocar-u70-citren-de-la-navy-au-1-48-sun-motors.html http://gallery.aths.org/record/0c80812da71de762a4061da1f6a03772b8ca8fb8 source: http://gallery.aths.org/search?&skip=275&limit=25&query=autocar Note, it seems that autocar was connected to White, and most photos of Autocar trucks appear under this. I hope that the links can be of help, if you find more infos and photos, please post them, this is a rare truck and all info is welcome! Cheers G_Mendes
  11. Just find this post with some photos of a USAF F-7 trailer tanker. Looks to be very similar to the ww2 wartime F-1A tanker trailer http://hankstruckforum.com/htforum/index.php?topic=59784.0 G_Mendes
  12. As I posted, while searching, I found in an unrelated search/subject, that in France still existed one 40' trailer, and in restored state! However, the photo doesn't had any info, and all my search based on the trucks on the photo, lead to nothing. Fortunatly, the photographer later reply to my post (as I subscribed to the forum on that purpose), and refered the place: "La Locomotion en Fête 2013" (more likelly was in 2011, as the original date on the post). It is a great show and display of vintage vehicles in France, in the Cerny/Ferté-Alais airfield. From that, after a long and cross refered search, trough public websites, posts, online newspapers, I manage to find the owner's name, and the military vehicle association that they belong, "R.A.D.A.R.", meaning "Rassemblement Axonais Des Amis de la Résistance". The owner appear to use it as a vehicle trailer to transport their Federal tractor/semitrailer, Sherman tank, etc, to shows and exibits. They use a M51/M118 tractor to pull it. Thanks to him, this trailer was certainly saved! I only find a few images from 2011 that show the trailer, as in other more recent news and photos of their participations and exibits, they have use a proper wartime vehicle trailer to transport the vehicles. If anyone has more info and photos, please post! In case of interest, you can easily find the owner and location in the links below in the "resume" links of my search: http://club.caradisiac.com/michel-du/mack1968-14688/photo/mack-1968-m1231-1782411.html http://www.lunion.presse.fr/article/autres-actus/hermonville-il-arpente-la-france-daniel-et-son-vehicule-militaire-sont-tres-sol http://www.lunion.presse.fr/article/autres-actus/hermonville-ils-collectionnent-les-vehicules-de-guerre http://asso.radar.free.fr/ G_Mendes
  13. A 40' aircraft recovery trailer survivor! source: http://www.chassimages.com/forum/index.php/topic,114687.msg2298165.html#msg2298165 Source: http://club.caradisiac.com/michel-du/mack1968-14688/photo/mack-1968-m1231-1782411.html The tractor seems to be a M51/M818. Images are from the same photographer, Michel Duparet and I assume they were taken at same place/date. From the EXIF data, they were from 28 May 2011, maybe in a show in France? If anyone could identify the show, maybe it be possible to find more photos. G_Mendes
  14. Autocar U-7144 and C2 recovery trailer, from Life image archive trough Google images. Source: http://images.google.com/hosted/life/fc97c8921600d88e.html Source: http://images.google.com/hosted/life/6e516e491b52946e.html G_Mendes
  15. Hi, How is the restoration going? We would like a lot to see more photos please! Best regards, G_Mendes
  16. I recently find one photo of a 5' PSP plate, WW2 type. source: http://55tools.blogspot.pt/2012/03/set-432.html It only has side connectors, similar to the longer ones usually seen in WW2, and the side is quoted as being 5' long.
  17. Radbill, these are fantastic photos!!! I'm sure that they are unique in the internet, and priceless too. Many thanks for sharing! G_Mendes
  18. Hello radbill, Many thanks for the info! New to me! Where did you find it, I have searched a lot and I never seen it. Feel free to post photos, or any other information! Best regards, G_Mendes
  19. Just find a pic of this rare truck, it looks to have been shot in 2010... Maybe someone in the US get it and save it! source: Its the first photo tha I had discovered of a surviving truck of this type. Compare whith this: source: http://www.twinbeech.com/federalc2wrecker.htm The font fenders look similar. not sure about the front axle. G_Mendes
  20. Thanks NOS! Bart, I didn't have the idea that OshKosh made 4x4 with cabs similar to Autocar.New to me! Just a updat, it seems that one of the U-70/90 cab type wrecker survived, despite a rusted state...! If it was a prototype, it still exists (at least in 2010)! Restored, it would be a fantastic unusual display truck! Compare this: source: larger: A front view, look at the top of the crane/boom frame: source: (From other photos, its seems to be in a wooded area, with a lot of old trucks from the 1940 early-1950. All civiliam type cabs, Sterlings, Diamonds, Autocars, Internationals, etc.) Whith this: Source:http://www.trucksplanet.com/catalog/model.php?id=1930 G_Mendes
  21. Hi, Anyone have some information and photos about the US Naval Aviation Autocar U-9064, with a tank truck body? source: http://www.trucksplanet.com/catalog/model.php?id=1930 I search all the net but only find this from a WW2 ad, and reference to a 1/50 model. Many thanks, G_Mendes
  22. Hello, While searching my files, I found this photo of a Autocar wrecker. As this subject seems to be rare in information, I tought to post it. Note the rear winch and the absence of the 5th wheel. Photographer Paul Miller (White Dog) Source: It is very similar to the one in a famous Tarawa photo, (dated March 1944). source:http://images.google.com/hosted/life/9d825fd09a771aa4.html This could this be a later civil adaptation, post-war, but is also possible that a few more existed than previously considered. I have read in other forum that the navy bought several Autocar chassis to serve as recovery wreckers, but I tought they had U type cabs. Source:http://www.trucksplanet.com/catalog/model.php?id=1930 I always had read that it was a "one-off" truck, maybe for Naval or Marines aviation, however there are photos of similar wreckers in Torokina and Vella Lavella airfields at the same time frame: Torokina December 1943 (quoted original source: USMC) Vella Lavella (December 1943), see the wrecker in the image center source: Engebi airfield, 18 May 1944. source: http://www.warbirdinformationexchange.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=129836#p129711 More information and images welcome, feel free to post!
