  1. Hi; All I can add is that Steve was the anchor for the Oregon Military Vehicle Collectors and the Chairman for the MVPA Conventions in the US. The live round used a solid lead projectel and were very accurate at the artillery range near Bend OR. WE all wonder what happened? Newc in Oregon
  2. Hi Malcolm; I bought the Ferret from an estate, I used to be the driver for the elderly gent, and his attempt to drive it caused the problem. So far all indications are an internal problem. I need to open the cover and have a good look. Prior to my purchase some fellows attemped to figure it out, but no success. At leased the Clansman ect. is removed and I can get to the top of the gearbox. Thanks much Newc
  3. Thanx all; This is exactly what happened to my Ferret [previous owner]. His foot slipped off a depressed band release lever... it violently sprung back and then went back to the front.. completely worthless..as in limp. I bought the ferret this way and have not been able to repair it.. it seems to be in the gear box? Thanks Newc in Oregon
  4. Thanks, That explains why B. Grundy shipped a MK101B to me in Oregon some years past. I was glad to get it as a core. The Fox has a bad mk100. I wonder about shipping a rebuilt from the UK vs the local Jag shops in the US. The local just don't seem to know the J60 at all. Later Newc
  5. Some day, I am going to have to find a reman/ rebuilt J60 MK 101 A for a CVR[w] Fox :undecided::undecided::undecided::undecided: and get it to Oregon State USA !!!
  6. Hi to Robin C; The Fox is a 1973. Totally restored, but.... The J60 is the sleeved engine and was improperly rebuilt in the US, and ruined. I purchased the later style J60 as a core, and need to get it rebuilt properly. I've noticed some rebuilders in the UK also? Later Newc
  7. I must have been a Brit or Canadian in some past life; Constantly repairing a '42 CMPF60S, 2/3 Ferret, and a Fox. Later Newcoregon
  8. Hi all; It is not just the UK. Stateside we are seeing an oversupply of good restored military vehicles. Probably due to an aging group of veterans, and our economy. I know of club members spending $200 a week to restore a jeep, because their spouse would not let them spend $15,000 usd for a restored one. The result would be the same, but the money is not 'seen'. Later Newc in Oregon
  9. Hi all; Robin, I have 00 DD 40 in Oregon USA. It is a MK2/3 with a LMG dummy. It was imported and sold out of an Idaho military vehicle dealer. He sold quite a few Ferrets some years ago. Later Newc
  10. Hi all; You will notice that the solid end of the spring mount is the end that the steering box is working from? Rear mount box...rear solid spring mount. CMP uses a front mount box. Later Newc
