  1. I purchased the top yoke, so maybe frame and fork might be coming together after 4 years? Still a lot of smaller parts missing, the top attachment for mounting the spring to the top yoke, for example. Is somebody producing the front axle for the 3sw/3hw? I got a "Made in Britain" rear axle and modern Timken Bearings from Ace Classics, but nobody seems to produce a trustworthy front axle.

  3. I have seen this part, thanks. Will have a look at his other auctions. I have this top yoke, it bothers me that it is exactly 15cm long, which might, maybe, indicate a replica build in a country using the metric system? The metric length of my lower yoke, the one with the damage in the middle of the main shaft, is only 14,8mm. And at least one of the grease fitting holes seems to be at a different position, compared with your 3sw pictures. No bushing inside this part.
  4. I have this manual, these were made to confuse the enemy, so that they could not repair a captured 3sw, right? The DS6 knob has a tread, this tread is for attaching the mysterious part FS269, as far as I understand. Not for fixing the knob somehow to the head crown nut H94 or even to the lower yoke? Am I correct that the DS6/FS269 combination is only forced down by the H200/H190 steering damper rod? Otherwise it is sitting loose in the head crown nut H94? Edit: I can´t find "FS269" in the manual, only "TS269", just under the DS6 knob. Ok, I understand, they tried to confuse the Germans again. Ha, didn´t work this time! 😛
  5. Judging by your last photo at least my top nut, the one under the steering damper knob, is correct. How do I identify the correct steering damper knob? This one for example would cost me more then 120 Euros, that would be a little too much for me, if it turns out to be the wrong one.
  6. It is exactly 8"...now, but how long was it originally? Stems cups - are these the "Set of Four Steering Head Bearings + Set Balls Bearings" which Cornucopia (in my neighbourhood) sells for 135 Euros? Guess I need a top yoke first..and then again I need to know how it looks like first.
  7. Very nice photos, very helpful. The only thing which I can´t find in any of the 3sw related posts in this forum seems to be a clear view of the parts which connect the girder fork to the frame. The bottom and top yoke and the smaller parts attached to them. Does the attached photo show a Triumph Tiger 70 / 3sw bottom yoke? How long would be measurement "b" on such a 3sw bottom yoke, as this one might have been chopped? Thanks in advance
  8. Found a complete wheel with a front axle, but now I am looking for a Speedo Drive. These two speedo drives are currently on the market, a bit too expensive to buy them and then learn that they don´t fit. Does somebody have more informaton like a part number, which could help me to find the correct one? Some close-up photos of the speedo drive and gear arrangement inside the brake drum would be nice.
  9. Thanks, the front bearings would have made it easier to have an axle produced locally. My front axle from my post-war front fork is 1mm thicker than the original 7/16, so I would also need all nut and anchor plate support nuts for the 3sw fork.
  10. Does somebody have more information about the front wheel axle, W323 in this drawing? Dimensions or even a source in Europe, for the shaft and all marked parts? Is it correct that the front shaft is much thinner in diameter, then the rear axle rod W61?
  11. Does somebody have the dimensions for this part "top link H164"? I have similiar looking parts on a damaged SpeedTwin girder fork, but would need a confirmation about the measurements for the 3sw. Thanks Oliver
  12. Thanks, I have an original 3sw main fork, ´new old stock´ from Greece earlier this year ... and paid too much for it. The missing top part under the steering damper knob is still missing and I don´t trust the steering stem that I have purchased. Have to find an original or fill in an organ donor card, before using it.
  13. Spindle 3 can be turned a few threads into both directions, until it is blocked by part 2 on the other side. Are the threads running in opposite direction? The other spindle is completely stuck, I tried heat, oil and yelling at it in German. Unless I find a (cheap) WD/CO without a fork this will be stored here for years or it will become someone else´s problem. Oliver
  14. This front fork came with my Triumph earlier this year and was identified here as Royal Enfield WD CO. It is complete with fender, but was heavily rusted, so I needed to put some work in it, in order to preserve it. However I can not disassemble it further, as the bolts (3,4) are stuck. Cutting part 2 and 1 in half seems to be the only way of being able to remove it. I also don´t know how to remove the main shaft (5?). Any ideas? Still some rust visible which needs to be sandblasted in areas covered by the parts I want to remove. The metal corrodes really quick again once the rust is removed.   15. Thanks, will check all three sources. On a second look the number of different angled spokes on my rear wheel was also unlogical. Is there a manual which tells me which spoke lenght and angle I have to use on my wheel on the correct position? So my Indian tires will have to wait a few weeks more. You might be right, I wouldn´t have noticed the diameter differences if I hadn´t kept the old 3.00 and 3.25 tires.
  16. Is there a source for those rear spokes? I haven´t been able to find the right spokes online. I have the thinner ones on both front and rear wheels (3sw) and not surprisingly one of the thinner spokes on the rear wheel is broken. Oliver
  17. No, they are not on the rims yet. I had ancient Dunlop Universal 3.00 mounted on the front wheel and 3.25 on the rear wheel and have removed them from the rims. The new "3.25" marked tires have the same width as my old wartime 3.00 front tire and my old 3.25 is noticeable wider than the new Indian made 3.25.
  18. Warning - I bought those Indian made 3.25 x 19 "Dunlop Unigrips" and noticed today that they look smaller in diameter than the old 3.25 Dunlop Universal, which was once on the rear wheel on my Triumph 3sw. And indeed those "3.25 x 19" marked tires are only 3.0 wide!
  19. Not sure if the 6" lamp which came with my 3sw is an original, but I would prefer to replace it with a larger headlamp. Is this a Lucas DU 142 lamp in this picture and are all DU 142 8 inch lamps? And is there a source for a speedometer and how is it mounted to the front fork? Regards Oliver

  21. This is the top of my tank. I am not sure what to think about the Triumph badge, as my 3sw had been made to look like a post war 3T or something similar. My tank is quite good inside, the only problem is removing the thick amount of chrome from the sides. Oliver
  22. Well, I only have the 3sw fork and my focus is finding the main shaft, that goes into the frame and a fitting top yoke. I was reading a threat somewhere from a guy who had tested an Indian build girder fork and he had no problems with it at all. Even after using his bike off road. One could also invest in some European man power and have the product, or the needed parts, tested and/or modified for road savety. But as far as I know they only produce the 3hw fork in India and I don´t know if those main shaft and top yoke are the same. My mayor problem is still my lack of knowledge about the parts I am searching. For example these two forks are currently on ebay, but would they fit? Triumph Speed Twin? Listed as "girder fork Triumph Velocette Rudge Norten BSA". Not 3sw/3hw and no top yoke, even if it would fit. Regards Oliver
  23. Jenkinov - Good idea to update the Triumph entry. The frame is now stripped from paint and rust, but I can´t find any date stamp on it. For a german road licence I need to find an original fork, so using my unidentified post-war fork is no option. I guess a 3hw fork should be no problem. Oliver Edited: I just hope I don´t have to buy something like this (currently on ebay)
  24. The 3sw is indeed an interesting piece of history. Not sure what to think about it from a technical point of view, as I am always comparing the Triumph components to my Flatheads. "A bolt - they fitted it with just one tiny bolt??" :wow: "A tube, just a tube for a handlebar? No inner sleeves, no castings?? And it worked??" Well, except for the inside of my primary case cover, it seems to have worked. Technical I could use a 3hw front fork to get away from basketcase status to a running bike, and replace it when I have found the missing 3sw parts? Oliver
