For those wondering where the James Watkinson 20ton Constructor ended up a friend of mine chopped it out of a tree in 2015 and then sold it to a chap to restore, unfortunately he decided he wasn't going to be able to complete it so yesterday we went and collected the "Ikea" Constructor assembly kit. Here are the pics: Here are some moving images with sound! -

Sorry to revive an old thread. I am looking for a FV397698 / 2540-99-873-9916 Towing Eye for my Rubery Owen trailer. Clive would you happen to have any more info or drawings for this specific eye?

Hi Guys, Bit of a thread revival so I apologise. I was discussing armour and making them more reliable for sporadic civilian display use (read: reduced manpower, funding and spares availability) with a friend recently and they mentioned your EFI and Electronic Ignition efforts with the Meteor John, sounded very interesting! When my Explorer was Meadows powered I intended on fitting an electronic ignition system from Megasquirt to help with starting etc. I still have the kit in the shed actually along with the Meadows with the intention of making a running display engine to pop onto an Arrows trailer. Recently I have stumbled across two things that may be of relevance and interest in this thread: First is a company doing Fuel injection conversions on classic cars via a couple of different methods but one of which is a replacement "carb" which has built in sensors, butterly and injector and doesnt detract from the classic appearance of the engine in any great manner www.classicfuelinjection.co.uk The second is a bloke on youtube who has created a device called a "CarbCheater" which is basically a closed loop PWM control of an off the shelf idle control valve from a modern vehicle which adds air to the intake after the carb to lean out the mixture to 14.5/1 accurately. Parts count was about $100 for the circuit board, valve and AFR sensor. He is looking to make it an open source project like Speeduino. Hope this is of interest!

Has any more info surfaced on these since this post started? Ive just picked one up.

They allow you to modernise but needs to be within 10% of the rolling diameter from memory and equal or greater weight and speed rating The rear has rods actuated by a T-16 brake chamber that pull wedges which push rollers out to expand the shoes, the front is the same but has small hydraulic slaves doing the pulling (these are actuated by a master cylinder which is pressurised by a T-16 brake chamber)

The data sheet ive seen for the day cab version was just as a 6X4 tractor unit, no winch. (I believe the data sheet was in this thread somewhere?) -
David Brown Tractor Club might be the best bet?

Yea I know they didnt run Amazons, just not seen many Crusader/Amazons with single round headlights before I was sent the service pics of mine. Normally see the twin rounds and the civvi squares. -

Interesting headlights on that! Similar to mine when it was first in service: Out of curiosity what is the truck behind that Amazon wrecker? -
