Stac90
So we recently purchased a landrover 101 to restore. I have done some digging while the other half continues to restore it but id really ike tooff know its history and facts about it but wonder is there anywhere that might have or store ex military vehicle photos whilst in action! We know ours was 1 of 33 in its batch off the line to become a gun tractor where the history then fades and a new service card was created when it went in for repair but does not state repairs then it went out to an raf base an then the next record on the card is for it to was be struck off. can anyone help me with info an where to find pics. We have contacted bmm and they sent the service card and registration/manufactured certificate but now I am stuck as to where I can go for the middle info
ruxy
Have you seen this :- http://www.emlra.org/index.php/vehicles/the-101-forward-control It seems yours probably became a RAF Regiment 'Rapier Tractor' , some were re-bodied as Electronic warfare vehicles (IIRC called Vampire) , quite a few went to Marshall of Cambridge to be re-bodied as ambulance (given a later Reg. No. ISTR --FM-- to --GJ-- ) You should find plenty of in-service photographs in books / mags. for Rapier tractor , also enquire at the RAF Museum.
