  1. Thanks for your answers, will try both. Will need another lead but just wanted to get her moving at the moment and will do a pack lift and full rebuild in August.

Any other ideas always welcome or the angle grinder comes out.

  2. Hi all,

Does anyone have any magical tips on un-seizing the alloy plugs. As you can see the swivel above totally corroded and disintegrated. It has been soaking in plusgas for a week now and even with tentative taps still won’t budge. Or is this a case of cut it off and buy a new one? Its about 3 inches in diameter and is the belt driven alternator off a FV432 B81.

    Cheers,

    Charlie

  3. Slightly abrupt I have to say!!

My reason for asking was that I am the MVT Verification Officer and that my request was quite valid as it will enable me to help the members of the MVT get their vehicles registered

Having said that there are very few (probably 2-3 in the couple of hundred verifications that I have done over the past two years) that have been returned because the verification letter or the details included in it from the MVT was insufficient or the incorrect completion of the V55/5

We (the MVT) have also built relationships within the DVLA to enable Jeep owners whose vehicles were registered post 1960 to change date of manufacture to take advantage of the MOT exemption without the evidence laid out in the regulations

I also find it interesting that this person will research obscure vehicles, this has always been part of the verification/inspection process we (MVT) undertake

Sounds as if my role is redundant!!!

Diana, is there any reason you will not pass OUR Verification Officer his details?

  4. I like to use a sponge gloss roller on the smaller jobs, it gives a really nice finish (if you keep a wet edge) and it just feels better to be pushing the paint into the surface as opposed to spraying on top of it.

Agree Rick, you also get to know every little detail of the vehicle rather than with a spray gun, things are just big lumps to paint one colour.

  5. Be aware that if your photographic device of choice is GPS enable, you might be giving your location away to bad guys. As collectors we spend a LOT of money on our hobby and own some rare items that cannot be replaced. Not only that but by posting family pics we might be putting them ask risk also.
