We are stripping the 109 FFR right down to bare metal
the paint we have been advised to use is a Zinc Chomate (self etching)
we have grey but it may be available in other colours
i may then put a green undercoat on or even go for Deep Bronze Green
then NATO Matt Green and then do the Black
Ian
Just a note from down here in Cornwall......................
We have just done 2 x S2a Ambulances
Bothe were done with NATO Green (put on with Gloss roller)
and the black was Blackboard paint (Brushed)
all was Matt
crosses were Cardinal Red (Satin) on top of Brillient White (Satin)
I was brought up in the Aldershot area and joined the T A's in 1978
Not many units used spray guns in those days!!!!!
most of the re-painting was done by
Guys that did not want to do it!
and did not know how to do it!
and with a 3 inch brush
Here is a pic of my 109 done the same way

That is a general advert to cover any that they sell
Personaly i would not get one from them again,
For the price my friends paid i would have expected a much better item(painted and a bit more work done to it)
It looked much the same as yours but was over 2k (registersd and with MOT

Hi Rick
I drove one down from Yorkshire to Cornwall last year and then this year i drove one from Kent to Cornwall !!!!!!!
Num Bum and sore legs !!! or what.
you could try P A Blanchards for spares (not the cheapest by any means but they do have 100 or so Ambulances outside !

More on the same subject............................
a small group of us ar setting up an Aid Station display (2x L/R Ambulances a 109 GS (LAD) and perhaps a 109 FFR)
We would like to mark them up for the same unit (Field Ambulance)
Has anyone got any info on unit markings of such a unit (early 1980's
Thanks
Ian
I Think it was in the early 70's that it changed from yellow to grey
the grey was like slate grey.
also some units painted opposite cam (if plate was on black paint it green and if on green paint it black

Can anyone help?
I am trying to get a copy of the M T form that went inside the work ticket folder (cant remember the number)
this is the one that recorded driver names, fuel and mileage etc. from the 70's and 80's.
also a copy of the accident form (it may have been FMT 3 ) ?????
Thanks
Ian

One of our members of the Cornwall MVT.has the chance to rescue a pre 1972 L/W Land Rover,
can you get a new chassis for the lightweight or is it a case of patching up the old one??
Thanks for any help.
