  1. Bit of an update,

Spent a day removing the rear of the cab, so i could then remove the hydraulic tank to remove the fuel tank. Got it all removed but couldnt lift the tank out on my own.

Once the tank was removed it gave us lots of room to work on the gearbox, wouldnt fancy trying to remove it with the fuel tank in place.

Last Sunday, Got the Stolly off the ramp again, parked it outside the work shop and lifted it onto big axle stands.

  2. Seems i have suffered a case of brain fade too.

You do not need to use the cranked brackets. The kit is a conversion kit so is intended to fit all different types of belt set up in different landrovers.

I think those brackets are designed to fit over the bulkhead in a Swb and then mount the reel to it behind the bulkhead as you dont have the room behind the seats in swb.

Sorry Neil can see how i confused you yesterday. ;-)

  5. All the military Series 3 used static belts,

Later S3's had inertia belts as standard.

Got some low quality pic's that i took showing the roll bar i have in Bungle, but it does show some of the plates in the kit.

The reel unit is mounted on the spreader plates which sandwich the bulkhead.

I will get some pics when i get home, Not used the landrover to come to work today.

  6. If the steering is heavy, try adding some more oil before you replace the relay, mine must leak some yet its not noticable but about every 12months it needs topping up as the steering gets tight.

You need to remove two of the top cover bolts, one to vent and one to slowly fill with ep90, i have never been able to get at more than one of mine so it can take a while, topping up the hole and letting it slowly run down. Keep going till it wont fill anymore.
