There must be more members that visited the two shows other than CT, come on guys lets hear what you have got to say.
CT When you said that TT won on the vehicle front did you mean because of the number of vehicles there or the fact that they had more exotic toys at the show?
-
Hi guys,
After bumping into CT and Pat at Trucks and Troops we started to talk about Horndean and Trucks and troops and which show is better.
So here is my two questions
If i were a member of the public which show is better for me to visit, value for money, what to see and do etc
If I was a Vehicle Owner which show would be best for me to take my pride and joy to?
Please no politics, just your honest answers.
Thanks

Hi CW, do you know about the navy boat being lived in at shoreham harbour just down the road from the higgins boat?
No vandalism or anything like that, looks good, I'm still working out how to get it on my works lorry and home without anybody seeing me

Hi Guys,
I'm NO expert on photography or Ferrets but is it me or is there something funny about the front cover photo of the ferret? Theres just something about it, looks like the background has been added in or something, if you look at the 30cal , bren, wing mirror and front chain they all look a bit funny around the edges, a bit like they have been stuck on. The actual ferret dosent seam to sit or look right either. Ive looked at all the other photos in the mag and they look fine? Maybe Snapper can help out with this one?

Yes the neighbours did get a shock when it first turned up, but they are used to it now, a lot of the older villagers love it.

As far as I know a gun on a tank is called the main Gun and a Howitzer is from the Artillery family and is pulled behind another vehicle so what is it you friends is looking for? This is my M1 A1 155mm howitzer Dated 1943.

Below is some pictures, the first shows the type of gun as my friend has, this has no donkey engine and the travel lock for the barrel is verticle. From this picture I hope someone can confirm what type of sight set up we should have on it. Its a 1944 Canadian built bofors
The other pictures show the two other items we need, one is the shell rack and the other is a handle assembly.
Hope someone can help, like I say even if its a loan so we can get copies made?
Many thanks

The sights and a handle (will post a picture tomorrow of the handle) these are the main two things but also really any tools, canvas items etc etc. Basically anything that would add to a display.
many thanks

Hi Guys,
A friend of mine has a Canadian built 40mm bofors and we are looking to restore it over the winter, its 95% complete but we are looking for a few parts to finish it. So my question is do any members know of anybody in the UK who has a bofors or parts that may be able to help with ether selling the parts on loaning them to us so we can have copies made?
Many thanks

Another good weekend

Since going to the show from the start I have noticed less and less groups and vehicle owners going, all seam to have something to moan about, organiser seam less interested in helping groups out with anything they might need, want to charge us for pyro and blanks to put on a battle in the arena for their paying public to watch. Obviously us all taking days of work some unpaid, fuel bill for vehicles food, cost of kit etc wasn't enough for them. Don't get me wrong we don't ever expect to be payed for a event but not add roughly another £100 to the cost of the weekend per member for their benefit. On top of the that the weapons we hired were useless and they were told this and they decided to blame us for not knowing how to use them but when I pointed out we used another firearms supplier for other shows and his weapons worked perfect they went silent very quick. That's just some of the problems. I go to alot of shows and I've never heard so many re-enactors or vehicle owners moan about one show so much.
Which show is better????

Sounds like Horndean is the winner so far, they are abvously doing something right to keep public and MV owners happy for all these years. So it seams its not just the cost of entry to the show its what's there and how MV owners are recieved. May be its because Horndean has been going longer that people support it even in the mud. anymore coments on either show?
thanks
