  1. Hi John,

What are the sizes for the shovel holder and the axe holder you have on your MW..??

    Cheers,

    Louis

    Hello louis,

Here's some pictures showing the early shovel holder.

This is my bedford, i have remade the shovel holder base, but the clip for the shaft is in the original holes. On the cabbed mw the shovel moved a few inches inside the cab to allow for the door, and the shovel holder base became smaller (the one i had on ebay.

A picture of maurices MW, showing the shovel right where the door is on a later mw.

And a factory pictureyou can see the shovel holder.

My horn is the same way mounted as John's.

And i do spot differend shock absorbers to on the front axle......:nut:

  3. Sorry guys,

I hadn't noticed the pics were in Ian's post.

I fitted a repaired wheel to my QL last year and put the old one aside for repair when I got round to it, I'll see what it's like.

And no Ian, that steering wheel nut never did turn up!

    Cheers

    John

  6. Hi,

You never know where these vehicles have been in the war...

Might have seen seferal times the REME workshop.

They did use what was for hand...

Also seen Bedfords with early and later specs on the same car.

It was important to let them work, they didnt look at how it should have been

when it came out of the Vauxhall factory..:D

    Cheers,

    Louis

  8. Hi Paul,

Its nice to see her growing while you get on with her...one day she is a pretty girl again...:red:...

Would be nice to gather around with al the aeroscreens who are alive these days..:cool2:

That would be an impressive moment i think...

    Cheers,

    Louis

  9. Hi All,

I did restore the steering wheel of my Bedford aeroscreen in the past and the old owner was amazed how good looking it was again, so he did gave me 2 others for reparing.

After that Roof over Britain came with 2 badly broken steering wheels and i did that job too....

I did have used some filling material we do use at my work for connecting sockets to steel wire and after grinding sprayd them in black.

    Cheers,

    Louis

  10. Were original MW Steering wheels Black, Green or both?

Mine looks very original and is Green. I have seen others this colour also on restoration threads. Most seem to be black, the same used on other Bedfords.

As mine is very tatty i plan to get it restored, so could do with some clarity as to what colour it should be before i do.

    Maybe its an early/late thing?

Anyone have any ideas on this?

    Thanks

    Richard

    Hi All,

    Maybe a late responce.

But the steering wheel of my earoscreen Bedford is originally black.

I had to restore it becouse of the cracks in it did also repaire 3 others for other MV friends of me.

Did use a filling that we use at my work for socketing steal wire onto sockets.

Its good stuf the only negative thing is that it is very hard so tools wil wear of fast but after grinding and painting

    it looks amazingly new.

    Cheers,

    Louis
