Ah yes a nice event that NOS at Snetterton i had 2 of my Jeeps there the 8th AF Service Command Jeep was mine also.......CONNIE is a typical representation of a US Armored Recon Jeep and cluttered up as period pics show and bear out with KRat boxes..coffee pot ..bustle rack etc etc all useful in field things......just be thankful it didnt have the 60mm mortar in the back LOL ..like it usually does.
I agree there are some very overcluttered jeeps out there c/w kitchen sink but hopefully mine was just right...
Right i am off to find Bodge and give him a slap

OK so now you guys have finished slagging my 42 Willys MB.....thats a genuine STARR X brand 1927 dated coca cola bottle opener...when i restored this one of my 2 jeeps it had 2 holes there in the tub..i had NO idea of what to put there or what was there i saw an original pic of a coke bottle opener mounted on the dash of an 8th USAAF jeep and i thought no way.....so i won one on EBay (these openers were not dated after 1935 ) offered the bottle opener up to the original tub holes and they lined up perfectly.
I amn not saying thats what was there originally but i am sure some enterprising GI "may" have mounted one there......certainly useful and Bodge you missed out the obligatory baseball bat and mitt and E/506th markings.....:-)

This thread makes me feel quite nostalgic..i used to own a WC52 which was a WC55 in previous life chassis number 81529098.....the 98th one off of the production line...Ex Norway and still had all the early features and re enforcing plates on the chassis......:-(
Sold to a very good friend of mine from Worcester so she is still around..:-)

Lloyd, I don't suppose it would be possible to pop up and have a look at your two jeeps as we're off to look at some jeeps for sale next week and it would be useful to have a closer look at a jeep before we go?
Jon feel free to ring me 01440 703133....DONT GO AND BUY A WRONGUN !!!! just remember
