  1. spotted a munga steering unit on German ebay http://www.ebay.de/itm/DKW-MUNGA-LENKGETRIEBE-GEBRAUCHT-/271256617227?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item3f2827810b might be a bit rich after adding the post tho!!???
  2. If it were in Dutch army service it would have been painted NATO green... the plates on the dash will be in Dutch and usually labels for the switchgear as well... like many of the EX Dutch army Mungas imported to the U.K
  3. Thought so!!! i had my ole girl running again today with new head gasket fitted... fingers crossed no more dramas!!!!
  4. is that the munga towing the jeep!!! or vice versa !!!! looking good m8!!! as for the wiper motor.... I managed to get a brand new in original box one on e-bay Germany for £30 !!!!I still have the old original one I removed... still working but a bit noisy/ growly ... saying that the new one still sounds more Whirry than the other old one!!!
  5. New coils fitted... and then yet another problem ... head gasket has given up the ghost!!! so opportune moment to fit some helicoils to plug threads and skim the head flat!!! been a few foreign objects floating around in the combustion chambers as well by the looks of it!!!
  6. New coils all fitted and now head gasket blown!!! still means the fitting of the plugs will be less of a hit and miss affair with new helicoils while the head is off
  7. The tyres look Nato pattern.... I just missed a set of 5 virtually new ones a couple of years back (could have kicked myself!!) PS I Like the makeshift jack handle!!!
  8. Sure did!!!!! ... my dad and nephew were standing either side of the bonnet (I had just popped indoors for the workshop manual)and both jumped nearly out of there skin!!!:red: miraculously he "fallout" insulating tar like goop shot all over the engine bay, bonnet, wings and even on the roof but not a spot landed on them!!! before I popped in I was stooping right over the engine bay !!!!!!
  9. The chassis on these mungas really are strong as an ox!!! have only seen rust on the extremity's and outriggers before..... body on the other hand is another matter!!!!
  10. Munga now drives!!!! first run out to get petrol with my nephew.... ran great all the way there apart from gearbox jumping out of first ... not worried about that .. just hold it in till second!! but on the way back it developed a misfire.... fouled plug again!!! whilst checking all the ignition circuits... this happened!!! so now have to wait for three new coils to arrive from Germany!!!
  11. "muahhhhaaahaaahahaaaaa"!!! Its alive!!!! bet you cant wait to thunder down the road next!!! I've been smoking out the neighbour's today after fitting new condensers, and it even moved under its own steam ever since it developed a major misfire and died just as we got back from its M.O.T. only just made it onto the drive (have pushed it there once before when we first got it!!! took me and three willing victims to heave it to into position aching backs not withstanding, so today while the sun was out... the shot condensers were changed.... still the blinkin same.. blast!!!... quite literally backfire shook the windows in the house!!! much scratching of heads later... removed the coil cover checked leads, coils, removed/checked plugs all fine!!! refitted leads for another go and.... vrooommm.... turns out the coils were shorting out on the cover... another job fixed!!! fitting number plates tomorrow.. then... first test run on the Queens highway!!!!! do they give fog around the kent area tomorrow!!!!! :wow:
  12. Hi Alex like the pics!!! The handbook lists 3 different starters, one for the 12 Volt (civil) EED 0,8/12/r 300, and two 24 Volt, 300 amp EED 98/12/r 300, and 600 amp EDD 1/24/r 320, yours has two battery trays so should be 24Volt (EX military) we got in contact with WWW.munga-ig.DE joined the club then sent them an e-mail with our chassis number ...they sent back a copy of the original DKW factory release information (build date , date shipped to the army, army service records and brief details of original fittings !! , date of release from active service ) very handy info to have when applying for age related plates etc!!! and if you become a retrospective member you get a welcome pack including a cd packed full of pics, hand books, brochures , (some in English too)!!!! .. I noticed your right hand side engine bay is missing the regulator and the starter ballast two boxes one with a large aluminium cover .... do you have these??? otherwise you will need to replace them and the wiring looms to enable you to use your original running gear!!! look fwd to seeing more pics!!!
  13. Think W&PR this year will be our munga's first MV show!!!:-D
  14. Great.. so its all coming along now...does this mean is it soon time to smoke out the garage!!!!!!:-D
  15. Hi Alex the floors on ours were quite heavy about 18 gauge??? we have used Kemper parts in Germany for lots of parts so far... they sell a very good set of replacement floors, inner and outer sills .....this worked out just a scratch over what the cost of sheet metal and fabrication would have cost and saved a lot of time too!!!! and I thought shipping to U.K. was very reasonable!!!! As for the starter motor is it missing?? or just seized as mine was!!! (removed, de seized, stripped, lubricated, reassembled and refitted and working all on one sunny bank holiday last year!!!) if you need a complete starter you could try the German eBay site it often has lots parts for Munga's (some whole cars too!!!) just check the seller will post internationally!!! also watch that payment tends to be bank transfer!! (easy if you bank online) some have Paypal. also have fingers crossed for the better weather soon as we still have loads to do before its first planned outing at W+PR this year!!!!!!! look FWD to your pics good luck and have fun!!!! Paul
  16. Welcome in which model do you have?? another Munga owner here.... mine is an F91/6-8.
  17. Mine has one too... its called a leichtcruz (light cross) they fitted the same type as ours as night time convoy lights to all bundeswehr vehicles ... even Tanks!!! im sitting here looking at my brand spanking new V5C !!! after the usual jumping through DVLA hoops..i was worried that the local dvla office closures would complicate everything trying to obtain a New U.K. Registration!! seems to me as though it is actually now more user friendly... now they accept photocopys of important documents!!! might just be beginers luck eh!!???
  18. welcome aboard Colin !!! glad to see another Munga Maniac in here!!!!
  19. looking good M8 ... mine is currently having a complete new floor and inner/ outer sills welded in see pic !!!! one question in your pics where do the two pipes (breather??) that lead from the points chamber and up alongside the inlet manifold go?? mine have been cut off!!! every pic I can find around doesn't show where they go!!!
  20. The reason I asked about the paint is, I think there are two types of RAL 6014 early and late, I believe the early one is matt and late one is semi matt.... the two look completely different!! I think its the late type I fancy!!! my orig paint was Ral 7008 khaki but I've seen munga's done like this and its its not to my taste!!...... on another note..I've just removed the bottom front hub swivel from the left hand, and it looks tho some emergency combat driving has taken place.. with no wheel !!!!! as most of the bottom grease cap is worn away along with the bottom nut and the lower half of the lower pin!!!! any one got any replacements spare!!!??? or a complete hub/swivel assembly???
  21. looking good!!!! could you tell me what RAL paint did you use???
