    Accumulators

If you need them charged, you're local bus depot is a good place to start, the old routemasters used the exact same accumulators. Unfortunately due to how busy it was in the garage, we couldn't drive the Saracen in, so we offered one of the technicians a crate of beer if he came to us with the intensifier, we hooked it up to the air compressor and charged up the accumulators to 550psi. Thankfully no leakages in ours *touch wood*

    Thankyou

Just a quick post to say thankyou to all that have replied to my painfully numpty questions and for all the advice given via PM and over the phone. I would just like to say that after a lengthy police inspection a couple of weeks ago, Fred the Saracen is now fully road legal!!! Thanks everyone!
  3. I like that idea and it's only around the corner! Mind you it lives in Hackney and no one's gone near it lol
  4. Me and the guys wanna have a look and see if we can finally change the gaitors. It looked easy enough in the manuals, t'was just the lack of the proper tools I needed in the way of an engine crane or something to hold the wheel, big ass torque wenches etc but now I have friends who are HGV engineers so have heavy duty tools. It's just that I'm a bit nervous of messing with big vehicles and have to have every bit of info just in case.
  5. Is it as simple as undo bolts, pull wheel out or is there anything else to watch out for before taking the wheel out? I left the repairs manual in the saracen and it got rained on have ordered another though
  6. Err right hand side (from the back) = clockwise?
  7. It should be simple but it might be nice to have someone in the know about just in case? We've got an engine and/or a forklift to hold the wheel
  8. So I was wondering about this the other night, the KLF owned an MV of some sort, most written accounts say it was a Saracen but most photos seem to show a Pig, so purely to put my mind at rest, which was it?
  9. I can confirm that it's definately in Saracens, well it's the same as the one in mine.
  10. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone local to London has removed a Saracen wheel before and if so, would you be willing to supervise me and a few mates having a go? You don't have to do much just watch, drink beer and make sure we don't do anything silly. Any takers?
  11. Aha something else that can be sorted by fully charging the accumulators?
  12. Hey all, Our stop light seems to have stopped working, the bulb is intact it's just that there isn't any power going to it. Does anyone know where and how to access the stop light switch? I take it, it's connected to the brake pedal?
  13. Does anyone have any contact details for John? Also been recommended Richard Farrant.
  14. The Saracen is bags of fun, it's crazy fun. Powerful, and completely secure. Bloody hot inside though, I might have to get some weird F1 style boots lol.
  15. Hey all, Tis been a while, work has got in the way so I've not had a chance to work on the Saracen. So I was wondering if there was someone I could pay to replace three gaitors on the tractor joints and also a bit of electrics work and charging the accumulators. Do you know anyone who might be interested? Cheers guys,
  16. Also need new gators too. Same place for those? I've already got the user manuals and the unit repair manual but where can I get the others?
  17. It's the suspension gaskets apparently. Rereading the emails, it seems the engine was rebuilt and not the whole thing. His names Fred
  18. So it's registered, taxed, and insured. It even has number plates lol. The lights are all working. Apparently it needs 3 new gaskets, and the accumulators still need charging. How how I repair the gaskets and how much am I looking at?
  19. Hi everyone, I've got the day off on Monday and I was thinking about doing some shopping. Does anyone know anywhere I can get light bulbs for the Saracen? The current bulbs (blown) are 28v even though the power supply is 24v, how does that work? Anyways, is there anywhere I can go and buy them from in London? I need headlamps Tail lights Indicators and instrument panel lights. As I've got the day off, I'd really like to get it out of the way Thankyou all
  20. No no it's working perfectly. Basically got a publicity event which warrrants strapping a sound system off it. I'm gonna hook up an invertor to it to power sound system. I'm just wondering how far I can push the boat.
