Thought I'd resurrect this thread rather than start a new one.
I've been using paint I got from Bailey Paints in Gloucestershire, but seems to be coming out more matt than it used to.
What experiences have people had of different companies? War paint etc?
One of the main problems seems to be repeatability of the colour from different batches.
I need a paint that is both brushable and sprayable.
I was thinking of using RAL 6022 olive drab.
Richard
I have used War Paint a lot with multiple batches of what is now called Bishop green, its matched to some NOS US parts and each time its a perfect match. I have used their paint cans and rattle cans (perfect for touch up jobs) both great quality.

I remember this at Henham Rally, my uncle was part of the organising group (Mike Bishop) and we used to drive from Cheshire in my dads Foden. A LONG journey.
this was my dads truck, sold now he has retired from driving trucks as day job and moved into vintage tractors

So an update on my process.
Route 1: I have been emailing a person at the HMRC and they have been helpful, they said any vehicle that has a break in its registration has to have a NOVA. So I tried to fill in the form online and it only has a country of purchase outside the UK so she told me to say Germany even though its wrong...it then went through. Got a message to ring and they said there was a back log and will get a result in a few days. Will keep you updated.
Route 2: When filling in the form above I rang to see what country I put, the person on the phone consulted a technical expert and they said a NOVA wasn't required in this instance but wouldn't send a letter to this effect.
Seems a mess to me so will keep you informed on progress, i dont want to queu up again and then be told I need NOVA, would rather have a letter so I have paid or dont need.

what a lovely project! Look forward to seeing it progres

I am going through this with my REO. I was told when I went down to the DVLA in Wimbledon I would need NOVA. Tried to fill in online but no UK purchase address option. I rang the helpline and they said in this case its not required.
What they wouldn't do was send a letter to this effect so will probably end up going to the DVLA again and being sent away...

Nice work. Would have expected a bottle of Vodka though rather than Gin

Don't forget AEC made a civilian lorry in the 1930's called a Matador
and this had the script on the rad saying Matador

final lot....unless you all want some of the civvy vehicles?
Mark
I think the 5th tractor in on the first civvy photo is my old mans Nuffield 10/60, but could be wrong. I know he went for the weekend

Thanks for the reply, i have tried steve at Dallas but they have none in, has anybody got any other suggestions for suppliers.
Thanks Simon
I have used these chaps for spares, cover EVERYTHING for the M37 and often cheaper/easier than sourcing in the UK

would the chains on an M101A1 be the same as the Ben Hur? I can measure on Saturday if that helps

I am located in Chester. Just ordered the willys manual off Amazon so I'm gonna have a look and see what I can learn about the various models etc.
Some really great builds on this site!
Cheers
Chester is a nice place. I am from Holmes Chapel so not too far. I remember going to the original Soldier of Fortune looking for Nam gear as a teenager

welcome on board. I am from the North West (of England that is...) originally, whee abouts are you from?

Hi Pete , Paul is leaving it as found condition doing only essential work for the MOT, brakes, tyres steering, lights etc, I will go into that in more detail over the next few days.
Hi John, yes the bike lamp brackets are still on there, Paul even has some lamps now.
I would put a tenner on this Jeep getting more attention if it were put next to a very rare 101st AB Jeep at any show or even an M201 which was on Omaha on 6-6-44.
Jim.
So a "Rat Look" jeep. nice.

It was possible (certainly with the RAF and I would assume the Army too) to have the base colour as Khaki Green, No 3 as usual but to have the disruptive pattern painted in Light Green, No 5. I assumed this was the look they were going for here?
Ted - unfortunately, I have yet to uncover a photograph of the recovery Matador. I've only come across a reference to it in a history of 51 MT, but it's been something I've been keeping a special eye out for.
Well that would explain it

the camo seems to be in reverse, the mickey mouse ears are in green rather than black

I had a rather late night drinking session with the author in Kentucky (for the Show of Shows) a while back, we went through some sample pages. Looks great!
