I came across this nice photo. looks like a Renault GP being loaded on to a Pierce Arrow. The lorry does look like it has the extended cab roof used on the portees.
Blimy, are thay planning on lifting it on, how many French men does it take to load a Renault gp.

In what context? I think of the Army Rifle - the SLR. When it was first introduced, I think it was it was known as the Belgian FN Rifle - Fabrique Nationale........
Tony
fabrique national is correct, althow the Belgium FN was different to the SLR in that it was not an exact copy if i remember from down at the range, god that seems soooooooo long ago, so forgive me if i am wrong old age, old fart.
-
I was havind a look over my deac SLR and its not in too bad condition but the paint finish is looking a bit past best, is stripping the old paint off and redoing it something I could do at home or is it best to get a pro to do it?
Also what paint would be best to use?
I know these may seem silly questions but haing not restored a gun before I want to end up improving it not making a hash up of it.
Cheers
Shaun
ours were allways satin black, buggerd if i know the type of paint, we were only interested in them going bang at the required moment:nut:

Yah right - then I'd never get it back to go to shows (it's by way of being a communal one right now - as my Landie has been off the road a while other members of the group tend to borrow it..)
Thought you had got fedup with others borrowing your gear:D good luck with the resto mate.

They're more likely to be MkXIV, the MkIV was the Griffon-engined test version & never saw squadron service.
The info in the papers is piss-poor, the Telegraph even reported them as being "jet engined"!
I see camaron is involved in this, could this just be the replacement for the sea harrier the RN is in dire straights at present not much extra work involved turning them into seafires:D
