  1. As far as i am aware, you cannot register a vehicle in another country unless you are a resident in said country IE you spend more than six months in that country, you cannot register a vehicle in this country and drive it in another country for more than six months without changeing the registration to that country EU law.

So (1)If you live in Greece then you must have Greece registration.

(2)If you move to Greece from the UK and take your English reg vehicle then you must change the reg to the country of residency and pay any duty and tax and reregister it.

(3)If you register it here you will be liable to pay duty and any relevent taxes, and if the vehicle is out of the country for more than an agreed period of time with an insurance company you will not be insured.

    (4)Your screwed. :help:

  2. Actually! A local Scout Group wanted a load of old canvas tents dumped, I volunteered! Because a lot of the tents were ex military, so I got half a dozen similar looking WD marked usable canvas.

    Hi Tony,

typical, i have been keeping an eye out for one of these but allways seem to here just to late, never mind keep looking. :D

  3. Not sure if it is military but i do remember boy scouts used this type of canvas tent in green and that the tape above was used tp help support a flysheet and keep it clear of the tent, now wait for someone to tell me i am a pillock and that i am compleatly wrong. :-D

  4. One week ago I saw at Cheste this interesting and unique classic armored vehicle made in Spain (1968) BMU-2

You can tell it's not a completely English military vehicle, since this was done in Spain (1968) and only a prototype, but was based on the Land Rover 109 (British)

Hope this info may be interesting...

    Welcome,

I take it that this is at the RICARDO TORMA CIRCUIT at Cheste, lived in that area for 12yrs, own bars and resturants in Valencia and Santa sussana on the costa brave. Do you live in Cheste, Chiva, Pedralba, lliria other.

Will be the for the last round of the Moto GP hopefully with friend Phill Read.

  5. This one frequently crops up, but it makes me laugh that very people actually read the document.

It basically says that an Argentinian living (i believe illegally) in Los Angeles wanted to trade a big secret in exchange for being allowed to stay in the USA. The big secret (for which he had no proof) was that Hitler was living in Argentina.

Perhaps it's the sceptic historian in me, but i'd need more corroborating evidence rather than just, some random bloke off the street told me so.

O, come of it, we all know Elvis is alive and working in a chip shop in Southend, it was only last week that i met a bloke and his wife who had seen him.:nut:

  6. Just got back from the show and thought it ok ish, not much in the way of vehicle parts but there never is so had arranged to collect my engine mount from Chris there I also met up with Mick who gave me some patterns for the engine shields and found a NOS set of points, cap and condenser for the champ thing plus met up with mates old and new and had a chat about the DR tour in Normandy so worth going :).

My only concern is that there seemed to be a set price for kit, I looked for a pig sticker bayonet only to find that they were the same high price on every stall, coincidence ? no chance of finding a deal. I also noticed the same with British gasmasks and tin helmets so did not buy any.

    Rant over :D

contact epic militaria, thay have pig sticker bayonets with scabard at £13.00 i bought two one of which was a rare marking and still grease packed and in wraping. hope this helps.

  7. Not quite at Blackpool but across the bay at Southport this photo was taken a couple of years ago. The contraption is used for fishing.

Any ideas what is underneath the body?????

no idear about that one but the vehicle next to it has military wheels, do you know what that one is.

  8. A pounding headach and the worst dose of flu that the wife and i have ever had, not been out of the villa for 8 days hardley eaten a thing have managed one bottle of scotch between us, thanks be that we still have Spains Christmas to look forward too ( starts old Christmas day 6th January ) so will have one hell of a lot of catching up to do but we will do all we can to have a good new year. Happy new year.

  9. Thanks guys. Every so often, I go back to the start and skim through the pictures to see how far I've come. With all the messy stuff done, I'm now on another major project; a DEEP clean of my workshop, top to bottom, roof, cupboards inside and out, contents, benches and floor. I've been on a week so far and have just about made it around the workshop down to bench level!

( Good job the wife dont get you to do the housework. ) Enjoy your thread, once again very enjoyable and a nice project and allways nice to view something different, expect there are a few you have upset ie TWO JEEPS and neither one is airborne have you no religion ? wishing you and the family a great new year as i and my wife wish all members of HMVF were ever you might be at this time and that includes all of our Military personel.:nut:

  10. I don't know how it can come to a hundred grand for the engines to be put in a state to cross the channel. Its all too familier for charities to say so and so project will cost £XXXX things can always be done for less.

As you rightly say Bob, regreatably as we know charities have great intentions but so very often are big time waisters of cash on many projects by not shopping around enough but i do wish the project well.

  11. I don't know why suddenly its so news worthy, and reports of the mystery of how it got there, its not a recent discovery, the sub has been well known of for years, it featured on a TV programme a few years ago.

Here is the full story on the Kent History forum of this submarine and other German WW1 submarines that were also scrapped, remains of which also survive in the same area, and why this one came to be abandoned to where it lies now

    http://www.kenthistoryforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=2336.0

As you say there are others that can be found in the area using google earth, if i remember correctly at least 3.

  12. It's an AMAZON mobile crane. ex-RAF. Airfix did a kit of this one. Spot also the Mk1 Horse and cart!!:-D:-D:-D

Slightly wrong , yes it is a mk1 horse but the cart is a mk2, the mk1 had solid wheels.:-D

  14. not a lot i can say to that, althow with the resturants and the villa we end up with five trees, one in each resturant and three at the villa ( do not ask why i have no idear, its the wifes thing ) so we end up with both and yes she is crazy and before you ask, i have learnt to live with it.:-D
