  5. Adrian WOW what a fantastic job you have done there!!!,it shows me a what a big job we have in front of us to restore our M4E9!!!,i will have to speak to you one day as we have many parts to find and probably get made to pattern and that will be hard as we dont have much to go on as you have seen!,i hope to get the turret off and the final drive before spring and then get it shotblasted, cheers and happy xmas Adam

  7. im sure i found some pics of some shermans down there they were from the 1980s i think they had been moded a bit but not to far from original i think they have been demobed now though !! i have tried looking into shermans in india and pakistan!! plenty of info on how they where used etc but not much on where they are now! but i may have a good in road into the Indian army that can shed some light on to where they have all gone and all the spare parts!!!
  8. Hi does anyone know if ASR launch no 1242 is still alive !! and if she is where is she ?? my Grandfather served on her until he was sent to the far east in 1943! i have a few good pics of them both and could get some copies made up if needs be ,cheers Adam
  9. 275k$ i dont think thats a bad deal for that sherman !! she runs and is quite complete, you would be paying 5% import duty or there abouts !! it cost us around 10k£ to sort ours out but we had alot of storage to pay ,if intrested just make sure the docs are there to say the tank has been relaeased from the the US government etc or dont go there !!!! nice tank all the same . Adam
  10. No its not ours !! saw this on G503 its a very nice tank he wants $275000 for it !!. cheers Adam http://www.g503.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=130434

  13. Well when the turret is lifted off (to chicken to do it with that small loader waiting for bigger one to pass!!) we will get her into the shed for winter and a nice shot blasting session inside and out!! i would hope to have a motor in it and running by this time next year! maybe 18months until she looks like a Sherman again!!,cheers Adam
  14. After alot of tugging banging and jacking we finaly got the turret to break free on the Sherman the other day !! andy and i also braved the cold this weekend and got the gearbox off and out !!!,final drive almost looks unused ! sadley the side cover on the gearbox has been long gone so the inside condition is not looking great at the moment !!
  15. Hi all we are just on with a full resto on a 41 dodge 1/2ton comand car!! some of the body has been cutt away! has anyone out there got a restored 41 1/2 ton CC that we could use to make template out off to repair ours ?? heres hoping ,cheers Adam
  16. Well its not a long story we saw it advertised on the Dodge forum first and then on G503! i got some pics of it via email and that was it we all fell in love LOl!!!,the hard part was the shipping we have brought plenty of jeeps and containers from the USA but never a tank !! two shipping companys tried and got nowhere by this time we had got her to the docks and then had to put it into storage until GFS did the job for us and she was on her way!.
  17. I believe they had some kind limited time special permit allowing it out and then back in!!!,un bolting turret on sunday all going well if it comes off will post pics ,cheers Adam
  18. No they charge you 6% of the price you paid for it !! that goes for all vehicles of historic value !! the one to watch is the storage charge at the docks in the UK that was charged by the ton and gave us a nasty kick in the butt LOL,cheers Adam
  19. it was very hard and we had some nail biting moments i can tell you!!! but then we used Gloucster freight who sorted the job out in no time for us it did cost about £10k in the end though but she is worth it !!,cheers Adam
  20. We will do problem !! ,here she is in Natural habitat just waiting for a panther to come over the hill !! well waiting for the turret to come off and for the shotblaster to arrive!!
  21. She is indeed an M4E9 Hybrid built originaly in 1943 cast front and plate rear end!!,small hatches and only one hatch in the turret .It probabley was upgraded to E9 at the end of the war and it appears to have little or no wear apart from the damage that has been done when she was made into a childrens playground attraction in California. We aquired her about 18 months ago and recieved her about 4 months ago .She has a claim to fame to shipped out to Iceland and used as a prop in Flags of our Fathers!! will have more pics soon this one was taken at Longbeach CA USA when she was waiting for the boat ,cheers
