Some of you may remember a few weeks back i bought this very tidy example off of Sirhc.....
Well. I sort of got the bug and went out and bought another..........
This really is a lovely example.Fitted with an overdrive which really does make the world of difference.Coupled with its riding on 750,s which also help a lot with the ride and handling.I have only had LtWt,s with the Goodyear 650 Hi-Milers fitted. And they tended to drive you rather than the other way around.I have a set of original Hi-Milers and the proper LtWt rims that i can re-fit for originality. But for the moment i think i will keep these on.

I have just bought another one. And from the looks of it. This one has also had a VPK kit fitted to it.
-
Thanks for the breakdown Peter. So by the looks of it the vehicle spent nearly all it's time in N.I and incoming units just took over use of it?.
-
I have just bought a second LtWt to add to the one I have already got. And this is fitted with a O/D. I have to say it makes a hell of a difference. I also had it fitted to my previous 101, and it's been the 5th gear that these vehicles have needed all along.
Mine has 7.50,s fitted as well and together with the O/D it's the best handling and best LtWt I have owned. And I have now owned five of them.

Hello ChrisHi Mark,Looks really good with the black paint on, hopefully it proves as reliable for you as it was for me. I'm glad it won't spend another summer parked up in the garage.
Chris
I have been using it everyday to travel to and from work. It has taken me back to when I was 18 and used one as a daily driver.

Back in January i parted company with my 101.....
It ended 20 something years of owning a Landrover of some description or another. But then up popped Chris,s (Sirhc) LtWt in the classifieds. There was no intention to buy anything else,as the order of the day was to cut back not increase.Well the bug got the better of me and much to the protests of the other half i bought it.......
Well the intention is to have it for the summer at least and get some shows in.I had a few small issues sorted and at the moment i am enjoying it.

What a cracking restoration. Love it.

Thats how we have our 42 Ford GPW reconstructed from many original photo,s....

Yes mate. Still kept in that small garage.you better keep it it was the first one i saw close up got me hooked! still housed in that single garage? -
Altough i have had a cut back on some vehicles in recent months. The Ferret is one i will be keeping.I have already been offered five figure sums for it.
-
Never had a problem keepin this 101 on the road. It was an excellent example that wanted for nothing. To be honest i could never have a Disco or Range Rover. I just find them to un-reliable.Defenders and series 3,s i could have all day long. But none of the other stuff that came out of Lode Lane.I had my fair share of the stuff. And italways left me poorer in the pocket.I know they are nice vehicles, but they can also be a complete mare's nest to keep running. Get a nice little Disco or classic Range Rover instead. Solid roof and heater do have there virtues.Time now is going to be taken up hopefully by a new Ford F150 Raptor SVT in the spring.

No chance. The ferret is a keeper.Just didnt do any shows last year apart from War and Peace. And i cant see it being any different this year.Just a bit bored of the whole show seen. Its a case of same old same old.hope your not gonna sell the ferret its the first one i ever saw close up!! -
I dont think i will regret it.I have had my fair share of 101,s over the years. But i couldn't justify keeping it as i only did one show last year. And i honestly cant seem doing any more this year. So it was best to pass it on.
-
As the title says. Parted with my last LR this morning. My 101...........
A sad day. But its better of in the hands of someone that is going to use it.And someone that is new to the show scene.

I did'nt see withams this year. Anyone know why?
Must admit, I don't blame people for booking in ghost vehciles, as the cost for public camping is very expensive, IMO.
Caravans?, well I do understand why people take caravans, comfort, warmth, etc etc, but they should cover them, avis was selling 12x12 tent middles for £20 this year, easy enough to cover a caravan.
Maybe civvie tents/caravans should be allocated to a seperate field?
There was no Withams this year as they are in the process of renewing there contract with the M.O.D.

Has anyone got John Dew,s phone number. Lost my phone this morning. Need to get in touch with him asap. Cheers.

Paul is that the guy from Folkstone that was looking around my Jeep last year at Combined Ops???Terrible news. A few people here knew him. Marc Open. They were on there way back from a tour of Italy.RIP Marc
-
I was on that same stretch of beach back in 2004 and saw those.Got to be German as i am sure it was occupied by the Italians and Germans during the war.
-
Why wont it be there this year????Also, shame to note that the USO tour won't be at War & Peace 2011 or by the looks of it ever again :-( I really enjoyed their set-up and great prices on the food and drink compared to "Gingers" beer tent:cool2: -
Very nice work.I have to say in all the years i have been on U.S bases in the UK i never saw MUTT,s being used.Normal fare was FORD F150,s and Dodge Ram,s.With the odd Leyland Sherpa thrown in.
They used to store them on part of the storage facility Burtonwood before being shipped to Germany.I never even see them come through the U.S DRO sales that were held on a regular basis at Molesworth.
-
Chris. That looks very nice.Just out of interest. Is this one for the collection.Or will it eventually come up for sale??.
-
Makings of another great thread.Good pics and text.Well done mate.

It doesn't matter what show you go to.The format,s the same.Arrive at a show.Park up.get a chair out,or have a walk around. Then maybe do an arena event in an arena thats far too small for the vehicle they are meant to be catered for.Why not try shows you have not been to before, I'm trying a few new shows a bit further afield.1st time I went to the victory show it was brilliant, vehciles ive never seen before and traders.
Maybe its me.And that after 20 or so years ive maybe become tired of it.

Thinking about it,i would regret selling the Ferret. But i think i'm going to give the shows a complete miss for the next few years. May only do Beltring.but will u regret it?
I'm in trouble now.Another Lightweight.

They are out there. But now you have to travel far and wide to get them. Fortunately for me this one was fairly local.
