  1. After some cleaning and furter emails to Ivor we have found out that this was most likely in fact the 26th Morris C9/B built. Making it probably the oldest surviving one and dating possibly from as early as 1942 in the first batch of production.

I dont intend to start much work before summer next year as other projects must come first but that leaves plenty of time for parts hunting which means I can crack on when the Gipsy is done.

Looking forward to getting started though! If anyone knows of any other parts (Morris or Bofors) please let me know!

Could do with some hoses and accessories from this but they seem like they have probably seen better days, plus would probably cost me far more in petrol than what they are worth going that far north. Would definitely be too far to go to buy the whole thing and would be a shame to split it all i suppose.

By the way great to see its been saved!

  3. Martyn,

Tim Isaac has already posted on this thread regarding their C9B and he has stated the gun is not original to the chassis !

    Rob.................rnixartillery

True. But in regards to other parts is regarded the more authentic vehicle. So it would seem no C9 has its original bofors?

  4. I take it you know of Michael Savouries (Muckleburgh collection) and Mr Fisher's on the Isle of White ?

    Rob...................rnixartillery.

Heard of the Isle of White one. But didn't realise there was one at the Muckleburgh Collection. Is it restored?

  5. No The motors are War time and they are dated in several places ,sights are like rocking horse ****e to find so you could get lucky but most probably have to make/copy them ,not an easy task but I know a very good fabricator (you know who you are ;) )It looks like you got a very good gun with the truck ,Bofors parts and accessories are becoming hard to find.

I have shell racks, barrel staves, muzzle covers and some other bits and pieces knocking about.

I will make some enquires about the C9B to see if it is still where it was ! I have always admired the C9B so its great that a couple have surfaced recently and on the road to resurrection.

    Rob..................rnixartillery.

I noticed some wartime dates but didn't know how original they were to the gun itself. Any spare bits you may have would be very much of interest if you were at all willing to part with them.

The bofors definitely made this project worth doing as a C9/B without a Bofors isn't the same and might cost a lot to put right!

Would appreciate you finding out anything about that other C9, and yes several seem to have surfaced lately. Getting too common for my liking :D

  6. A very worthy project indeed ,I wish you luck .You have done well getting the motors with the gun as these are a hard item to find, do you have the seats (3) ?

I know of another C9B not too far from here !

    Rob...................rnixartillery.

    Hi Rob

Thanks, I have two seats, the handles to elevate etc. And a breach cover. Really just missing the sights but I've heard they are near Impossible to find. Is there anyone making repros that you know of? Also am I right in thinking the electrics were probably added post war?

Is this other C9/B one I would know about? Don't suppose he will have any spares etc.? Would be interesting just to see it depending where it is for measurements and details

  7. Hi All

Haven't had the chance to do any work on the pump as yet but am interested to see if there is any information that can be gained from the repair plate on it. I dont suppose any of the location are familiar to anyone. Also there is the stencilling on it that I am unsure the full meaning of. Any help would be greatly appreciated

  8. What's the engine number, Martyn? It's on a brass disc on the right side of the engine, below and to the front of the rebuild plate.

I know there was a little round marking there but didnt look brass, probably just covered in oil etc. Will take a look at the weekend. Should be able to get the actual C9/Bs details then too.

Hi there, will photo the bits on the weekend and send.

    Andy

    Sounds good!

  9. Hi Martyn, good find!

The chassis rails don't look to bad, but the cross members look a bit worst for wear. Unfortunately I'm going to have to fabricate a new o/s chassis rail on mine. Like a fool I scraped 2 Austin k2 ambulance chassis after I had broken them up for sale and parts for my self and a friend. Now finding out that I could have done with keeping them for the cross members.

The bonnets I don't think would be to hard to manufacture, it's the lower panel with the louvers in that could be a bit of a cow to re-make!! I have some spare wheels, which you are welcome to if you need one or two - long way off I know!!

Fortunately I was lucky that the dash retained all of it's dials in fantastic order. How that happened I have no idea!

    Cheers

    Gavin

    Hi Gavin.

Yes someone has had a good chop around on the cross members but the bulk of it is fine. Not sure If the chassis on my c9/b is better or not. Will find out when it is home. The spare chassis may become surplus to my needs at a later date so if you needed it for the rails i may be willing to part with it but I want to keep it for a while as yet even if I don't use it.

Yes bonnet looks a bit awkward in places, far beyond my fabrication skills. But you never know what will turn up over the next couple of years.

From memory I think several of the dials are in place on mine but the whole dash area is pretty rotten but may be salvageable. The jacks are probably going to be the awkward thing for you I would imagine although you have one to copy.
