Othe rbits done include stipping, painting and fitting the dash, stripping the bumper, fitting a new water pump and lots of other little bits and pieces.
Next step is to sort some wiring out and see if it will run!
-
Then did the rear hubs, mostly neemed in good condition so just replaced the wheel cylinders and gave it a good clean up.
-
It has been a long time since I last updated. Got so far behind on this I never got around to updating it.
Wheels and hubs came off, cleaned up, UJs replaced, had new brake linings fitted etc. and then it all went back together.

Might well be interested Tim. Will send you a message when I get home. There weren't any other c9 bits there by any chance?
-
If anyone actually knows if this had a specific use I would be interested in knowing, just picked it up last year and forgot about it. Was it anything special or just a fire extinguisher?
And the base:

this is it

Thanks Martyn,
I may well have to take you up on that offer, especially as I need to replace the fuel lines as they are completely rotten.
I'm tempted to run rigid plastic fuel lines instead of the steel as at least they won't rot out.
Recon I'll need your help on all the fiddley bits.
Paul
Its not a problem, often only takes a minute to look it up on the system. Send me a pm anytime or post on here and i'll do what I can

If you need a hand with any old or up to date part numbers or getting parts give me a shout. I work in Land Rover parts which helps, and your registration does show up on our online catalogue.

I believe I have this on the bottom of an old brass fire extinguisher as suggested above. Will try to get some photos tonight or tomorrow

Anyone any good on Turner winches? I've got an engine driven one dated 1959 that I thought originally was Landrover, but the mounting feet are too low for the normal Landy one (unless Series 1 is different) and it hasn't got any fairlead rollers:
Not an expert but might be like the ones fitted to Austin Gipsy's. I know some had Turner winches fitted.
Might be interested if you were willing to part with it for my Gipsy

In the book I read about the Korean war it says the 39 men of D Coy the sole survivors of the battalion who had taken part in the battle were carried to safety on the tanks, these were American tanks. This was the "Battle of the Imijin River 23rd April 1951"
He was actually in Japan wounded during Imjin River battle (probably saved his life). I am just trying to piece together what happened before then.
After being transported away quickly by the Cents they were moved into US trucks
Have since found these photos which fit in:
and these which I would imagine are the Churchills of 7 RTR
7th RTR Website have some good photos too of their Churchills in the Han River area etc.
Photos credit to here:

Many thanks for the info!
I do need to contact the Gloucestershire regiment museum but felt something related to other regiments may well have a better response here.
The website for the museum (as well as most other sources) only seem to vaguely cover the period before Imjin and then focus on that. Will give that Max Hastings book a go I think. Will have to read through Robert O Holles book again aswel as Farrar Hockley's book. Its finding a decent book that isn't either just about Imjin or the US.
As far as I have found so far, 7th RTR had little involvement with the Glosters directly and had Churchill Tanks so unlikely it was them
Thanks again.

Hi All
Am currently trying to do some reseach on a particular moment on my Grandads service in Korea. He was 1st Bat Gloucestershire Regiment. He recalls while stationed at the Yalu River they were quickly evacuation on what he believed were Centurian Tanks. I have been looking all over and cant find any reference to what Armoured Regiment would have done this. DOes anyone happen to know (or know someone who would know) who these tanks would have belonged to?
Also was the 7th RTR ever alongside the Glosters in Korea? Or were they in a completely diferent area. Only as they too were part of the 29th Infantry Brigade.
Hope someone can help

It was by Gipsy spares. Type it into Google and you should find their website.

Been a while since the last update but a lot has gone on.
Lots of little bits done eg. Grille. Chassis is all painted hopefully ready to have the engine fitted this weekendwhich is now mostly in one piece except the manifold etc.
Got a nice lot of NOS Gipsy bits from Holland including starting handle, fan belt and the horn and dip column for the steering column.
Getting there now

Hi Sean
Just been in contact with the owner of Gipsy Spares in Holland, dropped him the picture you put up here and he says that it is the type they fitted to Gipsy's.
So if you felt like selling it I would be interested
