I am waiting for another well know Carburettor Company to confirm when they can do my carbs.
If anyone is looking to start a new business this seems to be the area to get into.
-
Some are dark brown and some are tan but with wear they all lighten.
-
Brown is the correct colour for much of the war unless you are commenting on the shade of brown?
-
The Polish Army whilst in the UK appear to have made afew for their own use.
They were probably use to using them back home.
-
Depends what period you want to portray but obviously the Mk11 although a lot more common were only used in Northern Ireland, and are a real Pig to drive and stop due to the extra armour.
-
I remember being approached by the Jordanians when I had my Humber MkIV Armoured Car for sale. All they wanted to offer me was post war armour in exchange (no money) even though Kevin Wheatcroft had suggested to me that they did have some war-time armour available to exchange.
They subsequently brought it off of the Dutch dealer I sold it to for no doubt for thousands more than I had it offered for and without the spare engine and other spares I had put together to keep it running. The fitted engine was very worn.

I agree with the OP theory unless it could be lights of some kind even infra red.
-
Presumably the cost of putting up an even larger building.
If the existing Hanger they are in is on the other side of the side of the site as TJSB has commented, daily visits cannot be managed.
-
That is great news; does the collection of MVs now include what was at Borden and at old REME Museum at Arborfield?
I would doubt if they would have the room but wait for a report from the first visitor.
Can anyone confirm if the old Bordon Storage Sheds are still standing? The TA side of the site where I used to go with 104 Battalion is now cleared for housing.

Untill British Olive Drab was adopted in early 44 Brown was the standard base colour for British Army vehicles and equipment so they appear to be just reflecting current regulations.

These would be carried at squadron level in mechanised units and after the 300 watt Canadian Chorehorses were the most widely used range of Generators in the British amy during WW2 and into the 50's. A great pity people setting up displays forget such mundane things which would have been everywhere.
I have a Petter and Jap Generator in this range which I need to sell if you want to complete your Panel.
I also have a 1940 Onan which is very rare. Quite what panel these charged through I do not know as they do not have the necessary plug.
One of your gauges is also wrong but I have spare ones if you are interested.

Interesting but I think most collectors will say they want to see a clearer picture to rule out dirt or oil stains etc on what is very light material when unissued.
-
I think someone is still going to need to post some photographic reference to prove war-time use. All the living history guys and collectors including myself have been searching for decades without success. Lots of post-war pictures including with the TA but nothing published yet on war-time use. I would have expected it to have appeared on the various forums if evidence had now been discovered.

The Tail Light will be the standard late war British Army tail light. Steel tube with plastic lenses.
-
Also wearing his private purchase Regimental side cap so obviously his best BD for walking out.
One of those strips on his arm is presumably an Essex Regiment dress distinction.

Do they ask for every item to be listed or just an overall value?

Any ideas on what the rebuild process involved?
Would it have been just a quick refresh before going into storage, or a strip back to as-new with with all of the mods applied?
If you are talking about the Centurions it appeared to be complete strip downs. There were silages of used Morris Axillary Engines.

Giving the Lucas/CAV Part Number for the Generator will assist with any replies.
-
I visited 27 District Workshop in the early 1990's and they were in the process of rebuilding the Centurion ARV Fleet which shortly afterwards were declared surplus and sold.
-
The type fitted to this bike is the pattern I want but if you saw an original example you would see that they are a bit more complex than appear in the picture.
-
I'm in discussion by email with Ron's mate Lex & there's a chance that a batch of repos where the rifle sits on top of the handle bars may be made in the near future ?
They are a lot more complex than the pattern currently being copied hence why people probably don't make them.
