Well done Mike - you have the job!!! :-D
Let me know when you get hold of a suitable engine and I'll let you know when I can bring the Ward over to you. :-D
Besides, in relation to what we have been talking about - not going to get armour on the back of my Ward and it won't help anyone else.
For those of you wondering what we are referring to - :dunno:
I am trying to get hold of a low loader or similar.
If I manage to get hold of something, I will be in a position to offer assistance to members if they need to transport their pride and joy to a show or workshop.
I thought it would be a good idea. Take the Salisbury trip - would cost me about £250 in fuel, silly amount of hours and then there's the matter if the Ward will get there and back without any problems. What happens if something breaks on the Plain?
I know I can get breakdown insurance but I can't be dealing with all the small print in the policies. For instance, for those of you with large dangles :-D - who decide to transverse a very steep hill or tank obstacle - are you covered if you break something. I'm not saying you aren't but I would check to make sure.
So, I am on the lookout for a low loader and unit. I seen an M52 and I don't know if a standard trailer will fit. Anyone know!!!
Cheers

Regrets -
Could kick myself when I sold my Lotus's.
Always wanted one and then sold it to start flying.
Should have kept the Esprit as they stopped production after 25 years. Prices have gone up ever since.

Should never have brought the Exige. Didn't like it and lost a shed load of money as I brought it new. Not telling you how much as it's embarrasing. I think they saw me coming.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u233/Markheliops/Exige4.jpg[/img]
Ah well, live and learn. If I still had a Lotus I wouldn't have my Ward la France now. There is logic there somewhere!!! :dunno:

Hi all.
As my Ward la France is a bit thirsty  I have been thinking about purchasing a means of transporting it about.
I have my eye on a M52 Reo tractor unit but I am unsure if a normal low loader trailer will fit this unit.
The standard trailer for the M52 Reo is hard to come by so my question is will a standard low loader / 20 ton plant trailer fit this vehicle.
Any advice will be a great help. :-D
Thanks chaps / and chapettes.

Hi all -
I am still looking for a space to park my Ward la France M1A1 - a.s.a.p
Somewhere around Tonbridge - Dartford - Maidstone areas.
I am happy to pay rent and depending on the area offered - i.e undercover / fully enclosed / hard standing will dictate how much I offer to pay.
I need somewhere that will allow me to tinker - as we do - but I'm not planning on carrying out any major work.
Somewhere with a kettle would be nice - (sorry - ex-REME thing) - I know you've broken down but get the kettle on and then we'll talk about it! :-D
Any offers will be greatly appreciated.

Well done Mike -
You can now have a YORKIE bar with me. :-D
It ain't for girls
-
You don't want it Jack - Ward la France is the toy of choice -
besides - from the posts I have been reading-
It ain't got no TRACKS!!! :-D
-
Leave the canvas dirty -
Adds to the charm of the vehicle - or am I looking at this from the wrong angle. :-D
-
I know what you mean Mike -
I only saw two wreckers in the picture -
Not that I ignored everything else you understand :-D
-
Hi all -
Emptying my hard-drive and found these two pics.
Ward owners will be pleased. :-D

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u233/Markheliops/largerwreckerphoto.jpg[/img]
I located these two pics on a site for the 328th Engineer Battalion, Photo Album (103rd Infantry Division). Pictures taken somewhere in Germany 1945.
Once I down-loaded the pics, closer inspection of the rear unit markings of the Ward showed the vehicle as belonging to the 132nd Ordnance Battalion of the 10th Armoured Division. That would tally with unit records.
My Ward is being marked up as 11th Armoured Division, 133 Ordnance Battalion. As far as I know, this unit played an important part in the Battle of the Bulge - but I stand to be corrected.
Anyway, enjoy.

If anyone wants me to mail this picture to them, let me know.
One you have it you can scan for detail - or am I being sad. :-D
I used it to seek differences on the Ward's which I couldn't see at first.

Hi all - I have the bug for downloading pics and thought this would be of interest to you.
I came across this picture whilst doing some research for the Ward la France.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u233/Markheliops/SC206438.jpg[/img]
As a Ward owner, I have found it really difficult to find any information and pictures on the vehicle of my choice, so I was well happy to come across this.

Right - lets see if this works - thanks to Jack and Paul for pointing me in the right direction.
This is my beast - 1943/44 Ward la France M1A1

Purchased from a chap in Holland last year. Released from the French reserves in 1984. Found to be in pretty good condition and according to Mike - who knows about these things - one of the better ones he has driven.
In the process of painting and tinkering - as you do.

Hope this works.
