The photo that I have posted looks like the same cars you may be able to date them from there uniforms In about 1940 the Rolls Royce chasse was changed to a ford and was known as a fordson Hear is a link to a video link of some cars in action also you can see a lot of other vehicles that was used and also some downed aircraft on an airfield that was taken this maybe of interest to others. <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Dj_UITL3G48" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>Bill.:nut:

  5. Hi thanks for the positive feed back I am just waiting for some rolled steel for the back and my turret making I have the turret ring and then I can make up the back of the car it will need bigger wheels 16s or 20s? As for the guns I have just got a 1” to 1” full size plans set for the Vickers so that I can make it my self until I can afford a proper Vickers. I have posted a photo of before and after just to show what it looks like I am hoping to have it on the road by the end of July this year. The last photo is what a fordson look like during the war with all its gear on and I have been kindly given permission to use it by Glen Beavis from is web site www.rafregiment.net
  6. Question what is acceptable as a military vehicle If that vehicle is no longer in existence. Is it like let’s say that now it no longer exists so they should not be any copies built Ore can one be accepted if it is a exact copy as the original Ore can it be a loose copy using modern running gear to show what this vehicle look like The reason for this question is that I am building what will look like a 1940,s fordson armoured car Using a 3.5 ton L.D.V. Chasse engine and all its running gear so that I can put it on the road to go to shows to show what the RAF regiment did in the war in Africa am I wasting my time ore not ? :help:
  7. Just a thought what will happen if you are a market trader ore you just buy vehicles for spares to sell on and it as a new red logbook. Will you have to be registered as an Authorised Treatment Facility? Because the last reg keeper will have to inform the DVLA about the new owner.:nut: Bill
  8. Hi all sum time ago I read an article in regards to some classic car owners changing their engines for a bigger cc engine and that some insurances wanted an engineers report for the work before insurances was given. The article went on to say that this cud lead to some insurances not excepting the swap and that the vehicle who’d then have to go for a SVA Test and also that you may need to prove where you got the engine from . Who’d this mean that if you changed anything that was not fitted to the vehicle when it was manufactured it who’d invalidate your insurances? This also cud lead to us not been allowed to change anything without having the vehicle SVA for insurances As any one heard anything about this? Bill
  9. New red V5C Logbook ref Self Scrapping. I don’t now if this as been referred to on this forum but has anyone seen that you cannot scrap your vehicle and use the V5C to tell the DVLA you now have to take the vehicle to an authorised treatment facility and they will issue a certificate of destruction if you have broken it up yourself for parts you will have to SORN it until you take what is left to a ATV so we will have to keep all the ID from the vehicle and I suppose some photo proof of what the vehicle was like . any thoughts on this ? .:nut: Bill
