  3. A Summers day of moving! after about 2 hours of trimming and moving we had the truck ready to move. it was in a ditch and overgrown with poison ivy, trees you name it from where it had been sitting and the junkyard owner agreed to try to pull it out for us to make it a faster wrecker tow away! so he went and got the tow truck (a 50s ford). he came flying back into the yard and backed up to a tractor (an old allis chalmers) that was in front on the ccw and almost ran over dad b/c the owner forgot to mention that the badly missing ford didnt have any brakes. he hooked onto the frame right behind the radiator and grill. dad reminded him that when he picked the tractor up he would ruin the radiator and grill but he did it anyway and messed up the radiator and grill. he then backed up onto the tractor pushed out of the way and kept on going till he was up to the ccw hooked onto the frame on the truck and hoisted it up. by this time i was on the running board of the ccw and ready to steer it out. the owner put the truck in gear revved it up and the tires spun then backed up gave it all he had and stood the truck up! after bouncing the tow truck he told dad to hook another chain from the ccw to the tow truck so we did the owner gave it all he had again and after a few seconds on air time and spinning we were off like a bat of hell!! after unhooking from the tow truck we tied the ccw's windsheild down and gathered any parts that fell off. then the next day dad went and picked the ccw up with another wrecker man!!! i need still more duck parts!!! http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/8/21714580040.jpg[/img]http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/8/21714580058.jpg[/img] http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/8/21714580043.jpg[/img] Thanks for reading, AGG

  11. i have a 44 dukw and as far as i can tell the coe cckw would be completly enterchangable down to the pedal linkages. that being said there are still a lot of parts that are unique to the duck like the air compresser, bildge pumps, etc... i live in the states or i would give you some parts suppliers but ive heard great things about the Rex Ward. Thanks, Alan G
  12. Enigma thanks and i just had my 16th birthday and i think i am going to russ jones (has an original duck, along with a lot of stuff) soon! Keep on postin , Alan G
  13. here are some pictures of the exhaust manifold before and after along with the starter and some random parts around the workbench. as you can see the manifold had a pretty big piece missing and the other valve broken off, which we got welded on by a friend of ours. http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/5/13922183783.jpg[/img] http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/5/13922183786.jpg[/img] http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/5/13922183746.jpg[/img] http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/5/13922183754.jpg[/img] http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/5/13922183719.jpg[/img] Thanks for lookin, Alan G
  14. Snapper thanks for the encourageing info and i will keep postin pics. right now i have the moter and the exhaust manifold was cracked at the base got it welded and got some new gaskets and am in the process of putting them on right now! thats all for now folks! Alan G
  15. i have a dukw and Im in the restoration process. they are enterchangable w/ the cckw completly, the ccw from the motor back, so i would buy it if you have the money. the worst ducks are worth $5000 and that one dosent look that bad, but dont take my word for it research it look on ebay and other places. if you have any questions then ask and if i dont know them im sure i can find out from people who do! Alan G
  16. thanks a lot TooTallMike that backs up what i have been hearing from others. i just havent got the chance to post the info. Thanks Again, Alan G
  17. leeenfield thanks for the info on your dad and the truck, but the only question i had on the truck is is it still a cckw because it dosent have the live front axle? but the truck does have tandam back axles, and i cant find the cckw markings between the axles. Thanks, Alan G

  20. Here are some pictures and i was wondering where is the serial number on this truck? it was rescued out of a local junk yard and the women that let the yard haul it off her property said that it was a 44. it looked civilian but the markings inside, and the steering wheel are what made me think otherwise. http://img1.putfile.com/thumb/4/9010214631.jpg[/img] http://img1.putfile.com/thumb/4/9010173597.jpg[/img] http://img1.putfile.com/thumb/4/9010173541.jpg[/img] http://img1.putfile.com/thumb/4/9010173488.jpg[/img] thanks, Alan Greene
