Ps. this was an earlier thread http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?22757-1970-80s-Rations&highlight=ration
maybe an ADMIn could merge the two threads?

I wouldnt wear it if I was you , there seems to have been another helmet sat on top with the balck liner in as it has left a black ring where it sat. If it will do that to the helmet what will that do to your head...lol
Jon

I think that helmet is what is referred to as a Marine pattern helmet. Used instead of the Turtles which were too wide for the hatches and ladders on a ship as the rim tended to catch on things.

I have one with the label saying Small with the tapes in olive and a later one with olive tapes, both have suffered the fate of the dreaded glue fail monster on the tapes.

No wories, we cant have active comms due to the proximity of the naval comms. They fear we may interfere with them.

I saw the size of the shape and thought Union Jack, best way is to get one and see if it fits, Ive seen them fitted to both sleeves and thought that if worn if anything its right sleeve like every thing else.

How much?

Personally looking at your photo's I would say that the material resembals the type used in the 1985 pattern combats, due in part to the strong die used and the sharpness of the edges of the Brown. They may well have used the new material but old cut.

As far as I know, Olive 90 pattern WE PLCE Issued 1989 onwards. Started with Best Front line troops backwards. DPM PLCE 1992 onwards.

Ermmmmm Scotch that webbing set with the black dots on looks like its a 58 pattern WE Mark 1 set. Almost all 58 webbing you see is Mark 2.... YOU GIT!, get rid of the yank bottle.
notice that there is no top support for the kidney pouches, the twist catch on the water bottle, no stra loops on the sholder straps ofthe yoke . and i suspect the ammo pouches are straight fittinga nd not slanted. Grrrr
