  1. There's a big difference between your tyres and some on a Defender! If you're worried about them, get someone to check them over and give you a verdict. I'm sure they are fine for the limited miles you're going to do.

The bloke from ATS said they wern't cracked all the way round the wall, if they were then risk of de-laminating, there are no bulges or blisters, he said he had seen worse on Buses round Doncaster !! I will have to take some pics and let you the 'jury' give your verdict !

still can't find the kettle and the flaming fish has gone awol:blush:

  2. We tried the flexalan brand, we've treated the tent we use on the gate on show days, canvas cocpit cover for the JP and with a bit left a sankey trailer cover ! Now i need to buy more to do my REO !!! Thanks Tony a brilliant product ! saved us a packet !:)

  3. contentious threads are some of the best!!:-D

Just don't want to be branded a time waster, I know there is nothing worse than a newbie asking time repeated questions ...

however, i was wearing my usual rose-tinted glasses as i purchased my dream machine, the same as yesterday when I un-wrapped the so called new tyres for the Whirlwind...err no inner tubes guv ?

Anyway , one thing is to get the tyres, next challenge will be who to fit them !!!:nut:

  4. One day , just one day I will start an uncontentious thread !!!:nut:

so other tha British Rubber and Marltrax , wher else can I get my tyres ?...please ?

oh and thanks again I am learning so much ! but the shopping list gets longer every time i go near the thing !!! need a jack and another battery now...I wonder if my REO is related to my Surf 4wd:shocked:

  5. An M35A2 tyres will be 9.00x20. 11.00x20 can be used on the same rims, but 900's are the correct size.

These tyres always crack. I can't remember the last time I saw a Reo without cracked tyres. However, they will be illegal to use on the road and it's 3 points and a £60 fine for EACH tyre.

Thanks for the warning ! so thats 9 points and £180 and the Police Patrol Man did not bat an eye on saturday ! even asked if we wanted an escort for the cockpit (Jet Provost ) I think he was bored

oh and yes I have the 900s BF Goodrich on at the moment

  6. Buongiorno Alex !

looks like a beautiful part of your country, I wish I could get my wife to go further north but we always end up on the Amalfi coast !

Welcome Alex, I am a relatively new boy , but there are lots of knowledgable folk on this site ! Enjoy

  7. 99 percent of bartread ferret tires have sidewall cracks however these side walls are very thick best to get piece of paper and see how deep cracks are and make decision if tire with a certain amount of cracking is serviceable or not

Thanks for your quick reply ! The guy from ATS joked that if I had driven the 200 miles up to Doncaster on them without any dramas, why was I worried about going 9 miles down the road to Braithwell ??? apparently they have been stood for a long time, fronts are in good order its just the drivers side rears (L/H/D) i wonder if it has been 'kerbed' a few times ?

  8. I guess you will say 'that old chestnut again' however I can find threads on tyre protection etc but after my long road run from Andover the other weekend and finally got down to a full check of the REO we now have found cracks on the side walls on three of the tyres, The cracks don't go all round the rim, there are no blisters or gouges and one shows cracks in the tread valleys.

so can anyone point me in the direction of a tyre supplier up north ? also is it best to jack and chock until I can get replacements ? bang goes the idea of going to the local shows:cry:
