Has the colour 'Vandyke' Brown been mentioned?
http://www.e-paint.co.uk/Lab_values.asp?cRange=BS%204800/5252&cRef=10%20B%2029
Saw this mentioned in a pamphlet as colour of ammo boxes etc. But don't know if its an early war thing or standard.

Cheers Clive. Ok so post war, Will have to have a good look for markings. But a copy of the details would be great.

My group has got there hands on various bits and pieces of the British Army hospital marquee, and was wondering if anyone has info/pamphlets on putting the thing up properly and what kit we should have.
Looked through the net and on the tents info on the forum but can't find much at all.
Any help would be much appreciated.
This is the type below.

Many thanks Rick.

Anyone know of a website with info on chassis numbers and dates for QLD's and RL's?
I've had a search but can't find much.
-
Just looking at the fuel tanks (I'm guessing there's another on the other side) and the length that the chassis must extend at the rear to support the body you sure its not a QLT?
Just had a closer look and will have to measure it up to see if it is a QLT chassis. Reason being, is that a mate of mine said the same as you! lol
-
Not myself, but i'll have a look at the professional phtographers sites in the next day or so and get back to you.
-
Nice little event. I went both days and enjoyed it. This can definately build into a nice little event and i'm sure more MoPs will attend next year as word spreads.
-
It only has one fuel tank, i did check it out to see if it was a QLT but can't remember the reason, but came to the conclusion that it wasn't.
I should really look into it a little bit better.
Anything i should be worried about retriever?
-
Has this got a deisel engine in, if so I know a bit about it
Do you mean this particular vehicle retriever, or this type of set up?
If you're thinking of changing the body and it's not too bad I'd be interested in buying it.Do you know which engine it is? Any chance of any photographs?
Last year there was a QL which had been converted to Cummins and had a camper body built in the rear on ebay, is this it?
The body is in very good condition, no real damage to it (Just the usual knocks etc), i was just going to give it a good clean up and light sand down before i gave it a coat of paint for this year. I'll let you know if/when i can source a replacement body. This wasn't the one on ebay.
-
Many thanks for that, i think your right. Will have to look into getting the proper body sorted for it. She has a diesel lump in her and she runs like a dream, noisey, but thats all part of the fun! lol

I've picked up a Bedford QLD and was wondering if anyone here would be able to id the rear section for me. I can see its not a standard rear. But has anyone any idea who would have produced it or if its from something else?
The side sections are split into two and can hinge down individually. The tailgate, can be folded down half way then fully. The section behind the cab is as tall as the cab with a window fitted. All made from timber (Obviously apart from the metal fittings!).
I'll try to get more pics, apologies for the state of this one.

When we take our Lee Enfields over to France we obviously take the de-ac certificates, a French Translation of the certificates for each weapon and also have the nod from the Mayor of the village we go to. We also allow at least 2 hours extra each way on the boat for the authorities to go over everything each side.
Also learned that the weapons should have mags and bolts removed as the French Police prefer this to happen.

Here is a better pciture:

I know what you mean and i do have one but, its with my kit in Surrey and i'm in north London. If nobody else gets back to you by then, i shall endeavour to dig it out and get pics.

Many thanks gents, have these kicking around for some time and need to move them on unfortunately as i'm losing my storage, but wasn't 100% sure what i had.
The rest of the truck is long gone unfortunately, bought these from a chap who had various bits and pieces from days when he did logging.
If i remember rightly the tyres are wartime dated.
-
Ive had these bits for a few years now, but am unsure what vehicle they are from. Any ideas please?

Three wargraves in the public cemetery of Veghel. The left grave is of A. Middleton from the Queens Royal regiment, killed on september 30th 1944. The middle on is an unknown polish airman and the one on the right is known but to god.(
ALLEN MIDDLETON, 20 years old from Sheffield, 1/6th Battalion The Queen's Royal Regiment died during the advance from the Somme to Ghent. RIP
Thanks for all these pics and info.

Bedford QLT
in British Vehicles
Posted
Anyone have any idea of the years that the Bedford QLT was manufactured? I've scoured the web and can't find anything on it (Not that I've found a huge amount on Bedford Ql's at all).
And whilst I have all you QL devotees attention....anyone have pics of the Bren AA set up in the back?
Thanks
