  1. Afternoon all.

After some more info if at all possible.

I have a QLD which I would really like to sort out end of this season with the proper body. At the moment she is fitted with what I believe is an RL rear (Previous info from the forum members, so many thanks for that).

If I was to consider this and to offer the RL body for sale, firstly would this be something that people would be interested in? and secondly any ideas on price? The reason I ask is that I don't see many QLD rears for sale so may have to fabricate.

I've seen the great job Guy did on his wagon and wass considering the same set up.

As usual any help would be and IS really appreciated.

    Colin

  2. Hi Colin,

Pretty bad - it has been sat on the ground since at least the mid fifties, and in my opinion it isn't restorable - if I thought it was, I would have bought it. All the panels are shot, and several of the uprights have rotted away from the crossmembers. I am not sure it retains enough structural integrity to be lifted out in one piece. Unfortunately, it has become hemmed in by many years of scrap machinery, so it would have to be craned out over a chain link fence, so not likely to be cost effective anyway once you add in transport costs.

    Regards,

    Mike.

Thanks Mike, Thats a real shame. As Dan said If you have any pics I would really like to have a peep at them. I'm renovating my one and am after a few minor bits.

  3. Afternoon Ladies and gents,

Quick question. Any ideas about the plate on the Left hand mudguard of the QLT? Its a still from the film 'Millions like us'.

Is it one of the units with PASS one side and a unit id the other?

  4. Good afternoon all,

Help! Been hunting round various threads trying to get info on best authentic looking colours for World War 2 paint. Looking at the mid/late war (As its for a Bedford QL).

I have seen Guy's Bedford Restoration thread and love the colour he's painted his wagon. But can't go down the route of sourcing the Renault colour etc etc.

Sooo I'm after a colour which you consider to be correct so I can tidy up My Ql's until I can do a proper job on them. Ideally needs to be brushed/rollered on.

So Ladies and gentlemen can you let me know of any suppliers YOU would recommend.

    Many thanks

  5. Many, many thanks for the info gents!

Ok, so i thought they may be from a utility of some sort. Wasn't sure about the Jeep parts and was kind of thinking that the gearbox looked Hillman ish.

The buckets of bits I haven't been brave enough to empty out yet.

And to answer your question Jules, In all honesty I really will need to shift it. I would love to own a Utility of one manufacturer or the other, but really have my hands full at the moment! Unless its Bedford QL or BSA M20 related I need to part with it.

  6. Would anyone be able to help with details of the cargo bay area of the QLT? After Bren mount, seating and box/unit for actually standing on when doing the air sentry bit in particular.

Seating wise after type of covering and thickness of seat/material.

But really after as much detail as possible.

    Many thanks

  7. Don't know if this has already been mentioned but in Northern Ireland you couldn't even get fireworks let alone deacs etc and still plenty of guns got in the country as we all know. So how does the EU think they are going to Police this and enforce it? I just hope this country doesn't do its usual and roll over whilst other countries pay lip service to it.

  8. Thanks all.

I did pick up the bit about Austin doing the QLT conversions, but didn't know the years. I'm hoping to start work on the one I own and would really like to try and find out year of manufacture if possible, don't think I have the plate fitted to the side of the chassis though.

I'm assuming that no plans still exist for the QLT bodies, type of manufacturer and materials?
