  1. Great progress thanks for the vid. Have you figured out all the idiot lamps on the dash yet?
  2. seconded the request for a video. Mine fired up beautifully for about 2 mins then revs died off and wont catch again. new plugs inbound.
  3. some new picture additions. VRN and some interior shots. Not the best quality because it was dark and too much snow to clear to open any hatches. VRN plate was mounted beneath the last seat on the left hand side by the back door. I took a while to find and i was unable to find any other markings because of poor light. Think i might make some kind of canvas/dpu hood to cover the turret. Now being of slightly more limited financial resources for the foreseeable future and not overly keen in trying to find, buy and fit original radio and comms features do i; A: leave the power system in place and just tidy up the cabling. B: strip everything back to bare hull and not have half a system there. C: strip the electronics and install a new system. (Primarily intercom) I know the poor old dear has been abused enough in her time on civvie street and i am keen that what ever i do is done in a caring and sympathetic way.
  4. it's looking like it is going to cost me £700 to lowloader it from london to Norfolk in the first place! it is curently in Hackney which is inside the LEZ which seens to be bumping the cost up nicely. The winter is going to be mostly servicing checking refitting and painting time. Glad to hear the saracens were the best behaved of the bunch.
  5. Morning Gents Finaly having my Sarry delivered to me in Norfolk this week. Following servicing and winter works i will be taking here back to London hopefully under her own steam. Everything being well mechanically the only thing i am concerned about with the 112 mile drive is windup. Such a long distance on hard road even with well matched tires is going to generate some tension. My route brings me A11 - A14 - A11 - M11 right up to the M11 there is plenty of opportunity to get my nearsides off the road and the odd chance to bump offside up too. there are a few long stretches (20+miles at a time) past that where i'm stuck to the road. So suggestions if you please.
  6. Hi guys finally the space i was storing the Saracen has run out of good grace. I need to mover her asap. Anyone got good suggestions or can offer me a reasonable price it is a 125mile trip. Thanks. Declan

  8. A+ S Yard Sale, Sunday 5th September 2010 Mildly unrelated, any Saracaneers planning on going? i have things i REALY should be doing on the 5th but it is just down the road and i could really do with going to this and scoping out parts and prices.

There are papers that accompany her with details and reg, apparently she spent most of her life in a storage yard. More news as and when.
  10. My Sarry when the previous owners collected her from the police impound yard. Stale fuel and uncharged accumulators and all. Sounds like she is running light but if you look at the other videos they have she was running ok before hand.
  11. I would like to state now that i fully intend to take my C + D1 and H tests. But during a phonecall to the DVLA to iron out a wrinkle with my licence i also took some extra to ask the guy about HMV and licencing. As my sarry was built in 1957 and is registered as D1 it is classed as a historical bus, reagrdles of it's MAM. the chap i was talking to popped off a couple of times to ask someone to double check and eventually i spoke with his manager who agreed and confirmed what i was being told. So even though i did not qualify for automatic entitlement and currently do not hold any C or D entitlements i am able to legaly drive my sarry. I ask if i could get any formal notification of the regulations and i was directed to download http://www.direct.gov.uk/dr_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@motor/documents/digitalasset/dg_10013774.pdf form from direct.gov as i said at the top i do intend to take D C and H at some point in the future but as an accademic and legal exercise DLVA say it's good and the sarry is counted as a historical bus. funky eh But to top it all off i never resolved the issue for which i called in the first place. another one of those we have no record so you could never have taken the test.
  12. Hi all, I'm Declan and i have recently become the owner/manager of a Saracen apc. It was bought by my boss from the space hijackers protest group and i am going to be managing it's repairs and try and get her back on the road. There are a number of projects lined up for it but my eventual goal will be to restore it to full colors. I personally have allways had a thing for trucks, tanks, apcs and the like and i'm stupidly excited to have an opportunity to run my own. sorry if anyone gets bored of my questioning.
