That reminds me that at one stage I bought some wiring looms (possibly for a Saracen) from Makano Surplus who unfortunately don't seem to still be in business. That means I'm pretty well OK for the smaller diameter conduit, but the Abbot also uses a larger diameter and I haven't been able to find a source for those. This isn't very clear and the vehicle is two hundred miles away, but might help explain.

My personal preference is never to re-use old nuts and bolts unless they are some special entity. I'd replace them with new ones of the type shown in the ISPL.
On the conduit front, xmod had some a while back, but I've no idea if they still have any. I'm trying to find a source of the fittings they connect to for my Abbot, such as the T-pieces on the headlamps.

This would appear to be a likely candidate?

The price of the manual is cheap compared to the price of the Scimitar... or the price of fixing it if you damage it by not operating it correctly 😉
Absolutely!

I think if I paid £31200 on some new rubber for my motor and it only lasted 1300 miles I'd be straight round Kwik Fit for a refund...
Actually Terry, I think you did if you're a UK taxpayer!

Circuit diagrams would be in the Technical Description in EMER TRACKED VEHICLES C 402 for Scorpion & C 502 for other CVR(T) series
I concur - if it's circuit diagrams you're after (the original query isn't clear) they're usually in either the Technical Description or Field/Unit Repair EMERs.

Thanks Greg, I'd appreciate knowing the VRNs of the Abbots, and pictures would be good, too!

Hi ANDY,
Sorry the extra T seems locked in my spell checker. I also know it is not a tank but when it drives into a school at lunchtime many of the kids think it is. Vehicles such as this are uncommon in New Zealand. Being new to the forum I was unaware the pictures had not transmitted. They were of the turret servo amplifier box I required. I have in 2019 toured U.K. For a month in a camper van. But only scratched the surface. Saw Tanks a lot and Bovington. I am along way from your stock pile of spares and resources hence I have supplied my email to help communicate. I would like to hear from those who have Abbot parts.
Regards
Greg Pittams
Don't worry, I thought that an Abbot was a tank until shortly before I bought one. You'll get shot on here, though! 🙂
As I said in the 430 Forum, I suspect that your only real solution is to repair the existing amplifier. I've never seen a circuit diagram but all the components are listed in the ISPL so at least you know what's there.

Neither is it an Abbott ... 🙂
More seriously Greg, you'd be better off posting those photos as JPEGs rather than HEICs that can't be read by most web browsers.

I believe congratulations are in order? Well done Simon!

They seem very few and far between. Rumour has it that Raytheon discovered that MOD were selling them off and promptly asked for them back.

Thanks Clive, and yes, my Stolly is quite big enough for me!

FM and AM as it's intended as a ground to air unit - it's also known as TacGA.

Thanks Clive, I had a quick look but couldn't see anything obvious.

Andy perhaps that service manual is a Level 1 publication rather than a Level 3 or 4 perhaps?
It's the only one, Clive. As the radio is of US origin I suspect that's the nature of the original contract.

Thanks both - I've only just seen the replies to my old thread.
I currently have both a working 346 and the operator's manual (AESP 5820-F-299-201). The service manual is a bit of a joke - basically if it goes wrong, send it back!

i think ours is with coversure. I think they struggled to comprehend the concept of an industrial premises being used solely for a hobby, so we just said its for restoration of army vehicles so they put that down as the business.
Cornwall council planning had the same problem in that they were convinced a building had to be industrial even if used solely for a hobby, which is why they refused planning permission (twice and appeal!) 😞

My current pet peeve is the "sweeping" indicators fitted to a lot of new vehicles. Not only are they completely unnecessary but they are hopeless in bright sunlight. I followed a Golf and an A3 the other day, one with sweeping indicators and one without, and the difference was chalk and cheese.
