I did buy a small blasting kettle a few years ago but unfortunately my compressor just isn’t man enough to use for more than about 10 seconds 😂

    Maybe hire a big-boy compressor for a weekend? 😇

In which case, it will be Nothing to do with 'War & peace'. it will be a country craft fair show! IE: Traction & Stationary Engines & Arts & Crafts stalls. Thus confirming most Peoples suspicions. That the present 'Owner'. Is Money Orientated ONLY. & couldn't give a stuff for Military vehicles. & associated Living History. & Re-enacting Buffs!.....

Basically that, with some civilian classic cars thrown in for good measure.

Well, that's my expectation, I might be very wrong.

Once trust is lost, particularly by 'This' owner of W&P. That is it!......

By the MV crowd, yes... but I think they're trying to turn it into a general 'vintage' show, which might appeal to a broader public which means more visitors etc. so they don't mind losing 80% of the green participants I guess?

Fair point, but I was thinking more along the lines of generators, pumps, or domestic stuff like mowers and chainsaws and anything else that doesn't see regular use that ethanol could gum up and damage.

There are special alkylate fuels like Aspen for this specific purpose, but the cost (£4-5/liter) might be a bit prohibitive for use in vehicles.

Premium fuels are still the best option I think, for instance Esso claims that their Synergy Supreme+ is ethanol-free in most of the UK: "Although our pumps have E5 labels on them, our Synergy Supreme+ 99 is actually ethanol free (except, due to technical supply reasons, in Devon, Cornwall, North Wales, North England and Scotland)." (https://www.esso.co.uk/en-gb/fuels/petrol ). You should be able to find out if the premium fuel of your brand of choice contains any ethanol.

If that fails, removing the ethanol yourself is simple but a bit of a hassle, although less hassle than periodically replacing your fuel system components I think... See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opPZD8-2fLk&list=PLXaf5EqG6RkflW4MU1f1Cc5NJjcB0JtSl&index=4&t=16s for the principle, just enlarge the scale.

Avgas will work fine too but might be prohibited for vehicular use, although the chance of someone actually checking what sort of petrol you're running is quite small I guess? I think it does cost substantially more than premium car fuels though.

  5. I would not risk E10 as it can even eat away some metal alloys used for older carburettors, apparently. It seems that most of the 'premium' fuels sold by the big oil companies contain no, or only very limited amounts of, ethanol even if marked E5... might be worth some research?

Another option is to remove the ethanol from E10 by mixing it with water and separate the resulting water/ethanol mix. Not difficult but a bit of a hassle in larger quantities. There are tutorials on youtube how to do this.

It was only when I went on their web site to print the tickets I found out the show was cancelled.

I did get an email from the organization it was cancelled, even though I didn't buy tickets (yet) this- or last year.

  7. Like the metal 'umbrellas' some of them welded on top of their tanks' turrets which makes the Javelin even more effective...

I can't fail to think of all those fine young men on both sides losing their lives in such an unnecessary war.  It really pains me.

At the beginning I thought so too about the Russian soldiers, but after seeing how they behave against the civilian population (continually bombing civilian targets on purpose, rape, executions etc) I won't shed a tear if they go home in plastic bags.

The combination of grotesque incompetence and sheer malice is fascinating though, and not something I have seen before in any armed conflict?

The optima option also looks good, and I would need to use an old battery case, or a replica, to hide it from view, but seems a good option if all else fails.

    https://forums.g503.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=221520&p=1307693&view=show#p1307693

This is how one guy re-purposed an old (original) battery, but I have also seen the top being cut off from above for slightly shallower donor batteries, and the top 'plate' being replace by thin plastic sheet with holes cut for the Optima poles to stick through. On this plate the plastic 'ribs' and lead connectors of the old battery were glued for looks. If this description makes sense?
Anyway, here are some pics of the latter method: https://forum.ktr.nl/index.php/topic,3092.msg25134.html#msg25134

The big plus (pun intended) of the Optima is that it holds its charge for a very long time, and when not in use it only requires one 8-12-hr stint on a charger every 6 months or so.

I had to shop around a bit, but I found a deal for the Optima for exactly the same price as a generic 6V standard battery, shipping included.

  9. I purchased a 6V battery last week as the old one died, and I went for the 6V Optima RTS2.1 'Red Top' after hearing very good reviews from numerous people with MV's. It is a 50ah (800CCA) maintenance-free , fully closed AGM battery, so you can't add acid if you wanted to. Maybe it's a option for you?

If the 'modern' appearance is a problem, most people buy a fake original-looking case specially made for the Optima or gut an old 6V battery and put the Optima in it. I'm going to attempt the latter with my dead battery.
