  1. I could only find one using the starting handle but I couldnt pull round the whole thing even with a screwdriver without skimming off a load of paint - Im thinking one as why would they need 2? cheers Mark
  2. hi - its occuring at a standstill so luckily cant be that - I get my new dowty seals today so should be good when I fit them
  3. Chris has suggested the same although he stopped short of calling me daft its got to be me - poor Fox I hope he forgives me fir being such a muppet - thanks for the reply I'll be switching on the inspection lamp tonight with unexpected moaning from the wife " it gets more attention than i do!" lol
  4. I'll have another look tonight - it does sound like its catching on something as its rhythmic and a metal banging sound - I'll try and avoid thinking about melting impellers for the moment  I have obviously opened up a plug and selaed it shut with the current washer (Dowty washers are on the way but not here yet) so I think first point of suspicion is me and filling up the thing - seems likely Ive done something as it only happened after I filled up the flywheel - I know the bolt was back on tight but I may have bent the metal near the filler plug hole to align the plug so IM hopong its just that - the flywheel is running very smooth though with no signs of vibration so heres hoping it something simple... Indeed Lee wouldnt mind someone elses oppinion
  5. hi i bought it from some guys in plymouth - it was adverised on milweb and was in good condition but its evident that they had little clue as to what they were doing e.g. rhe steering was dry and after i bled the steering on advice from this forum it wasall fixed so its likely they were not looking after things properly - its just a bit weird as i never heard this banging before so either it was last run i did or things are running better so ive started to hear this noise - thw coupling is spinnung well and the power is now all ok i would assume if yheres alot of damage things would not be running so well?
  6. hi went out on the fox and its running well now - the coupling was 4 litres down so no wonder i had power problems now that its all working ivenoticed at idle that theres a rhythmic thumping like metal on metal when the fluid coupling is turning - not sure whats causing this but it seems to drive really well so is there a problem or is this normal? as a side note i fillwd the gearbox up as well but couldnt find and dipstick for the transfer box which according to rhe manual is below the gearbox dipstick? i think the transfer box and gearbix fillers are one and the same - is this correct? cheers mark
  7. thanks I'd love to know how that block paving looks so good after so much work - mine is staeting to resemble an oil minefield , the wife walks out in the morning - states at me - stares at the oily block paving and then stares at me a bir more :/I have nothing to say still shes been away for three days - i love my Fox
  8. much appreciated as usual - ive been free this week as im on hols - so far fixed coupling, transfer box problems , fixed front headlights not working and sorted comms so thats my excuse for not gettibg my finger out and paying for thpse bands - *fail*
  9. Hi jeesh those diagrams are good!! i dont think i have that manual at all - time to do some searching i think - sincerely hoping that when i get proper washers this problem is fixed tho-i guess i could use "weld" or something similar to close up any problems in the coupling tho - i think its callwd metal weld...
  10. hi - im talking about the plug on the flywheel - as far as i know the fkywheel is a sealed unit apart from the plugs so im assuming the leak is the plugs - especially as tjey have standard washers which dont look any use for retaining fluids under pressure..
  11. well i read the manual (its not always right :)and it does state the copper washer specifically however i can see the sense in a washer with a rubber seal - the current washer has none of this so i can see why its leaking - the washer part number is below washer lv9cvw/2520-99-829-5393 i havent heard of dowty washers but ill look into them now
  12. and yes sorry its is the CVRW - i will henceforth refrain from posting while in the pub
  13. ok so ep90 is the way forward then - thanks Richard - gear oil equates to ep90? in the manual it states oep220 but I know you've worked on the cvrw alot so what type of gear oil would you recommend? cheers Mark
  14. hmm perhaps not the right question im in tge pub so the excuse is one too many beers! does the cvrw have ep90 or engine oil in the wheel hubs?
  15. Hi Ive read the manual and it states for tracta suspension and hubs i use oep220 ergo ep90 but im fairly sure i read somewhere that the hubs actually use engine oil? cant think why but im refilling everything at the moment and thought id check - also the hubs can only be filled via the large brass bolts on the hubs? the grease nipples inside the wheel only fill the suspension?
  16. ok so i have removed the fluid coupling bolt and had to put in 3 litres of liquamatic so i think that looks to be my problem - there were steel washers as well so i think thats my problem as the manual states copper washers - ill order them from whoever has them but i doubt they are still around - anyway at least i know what the problem was - thanks for the advice
  17. ta the batteries arecok no problems with them so far bit i just dint want to get to a shiw and the they decide to fail - 12v in parallel sounds good or that marine charge sounds good as it can stay attached thanks for the tips
  18. well you could always try Wealden tyres - they did get the insert out in one piece its sitting in my garage at the moment - i think they used compression straps - they did have to take the tyre to the fitting place to do it but they seemed ok - the tyre now has just an inner tube which i think is preferable as if u di get a puncture then u can call out people to fix it on the spot - if you have the run flats in theres no chance of fixing the tyre quickly...
  19. Hi I have a 12v battery charger at the moment for the Fox but its driving me a bit nuts to disconnect the battery each time to charge - can anyone recommend a 24v battery charging system for in series 12v 100ah batteries? cheers Mark
  20. ta what a shame you cant register them anymore ;( not too bad as these are registered but still its not good - what law change was that?
  21. ouch i didnt realise that - good tip lol did u get ny pm btw?
