  1. Sigh! you fellas get all the great shows......all we get is bleedin re runs of "Desperate Housewives" and Shane Warnes memoirs
  2. We can get permission to drive on the road. Most of the time it would be out on the property anyway. Would need escort vehicle GOOD OLD LANDIE
  3. I was quoted by Duncan Nicholson and Richard Moore. We are not allowed paintball in Tasmania so it would all be smoke and noise, still enjoyable I suppose. I have 1000 acres in Tassie, Neil.....if you want to run your vehicles around without anyone complaining.
  4. Have been quoted for a "nice" BTR at 24,000 GBP . We will see what happens next year! Would be fantastic to get one! Have "wars" with my Fox (when he is going )
  5. I will probabley be looking at a BTR 60, I need the carrying capacity. Have been told to avoid the Skots.
  6. After all the grief I have had with the Fox...I decieded that a 2nd vehicle whilst needed would not be British, I had designs on a Saracen. I have heard lots of things about Russian gear and thought I would ask you fellas. Iam looking at something big in the way of an APC, what are their vehicles like to drive? What kind of gear box do they have? Can an ordinary mechanic work on them ( no one here knows anything about pre select gear boxes!)are parts OK to get. How robust are they? Who is best to buy one off? Anyway drop me a line, or PM me. Thanks Troy
  7. Instability ???? Who says the FOX was unstable...horrible gear boxes yes!! A fox without a turret would look alot like a big wheeled FERRET I reckon. They tried putting a range of turrets on the Fox for international sales...didn't make much difference, it was a very bad seller!
  8. Reckon it will be the closest I would get to a Saladin! :embarrassed: Would love to see the pics of these vehicles and what you chaps thought about building them. Are there any inside details in the "Firing Line" 1/35 Saracen? I have a bit of experience with the Accurate Armour models and resin "kits". :-\
  9. I asked about that kit....and got told to be happy with what Iam getting! I only hope it arrives in time for Xmas LOL.
  10. Hey all Can anyone tell me what the FIRING LINE 1/35 Saracen and Saladin are like, kit wise? The missus said I can have one for Xmas (bless her cotton socks!!) are they as good as Accurate armour? Cheers Troy
  11. I have a set of that pattern without the pocket for pens dated 1984...if that helps
  12. Iam not allowed by the fun police to drive him too much on the roads, when I do I have to take the barrel off! :nut: Anyway want to thank all you fellas for your support and help getting Basil back on the road again! If any of you are in Tassie, drop in for a cold one on me!
  13. Basil finally came home today. We changed the plugs and set them to their civie setting, fully charged batteries and off we went! Some amazed looks as we drove him home. Very light in the steering you have to be very careful not to over correct. Surprisingly easy to use the gears, you have to rember that it ain't a clutch pedal. The worst part  the drive was over all too soon..now have to find a lookout so I can take him for a longer run in the country! Any volunteers? Put his cannon on him tommorow and take some pics. Cheers Troy
  14. I have a Jaguar mechanic with me and he is pretty switched on (cured the solex :-)), myself I won't go near something I don't understand and Iam a mechanical spastic :nut: Worried that there may be fuel mixed in with the oil..is it a normal 4.2 Jag oil filter?
  15. The leads are black NGK ones if that helps any. If Iam in any doubt I will ask you fellas. Tommorow we put the new "revitalised" carbie back on. Will have a look at the petrol filter in the turret first and see if that too needs cleaning or replacing. I would just like to get him running halfway decent for the weekend...is all I will follow the manuals slavishly I promise :nut:
  16. Hmmm the white ones are the ones he came over with....
  17. OK I won't use them...the others were all OK
  18. Wonder if that will make him smell like sushi
  19. No these were as close as we can get to them...designed for the 4.2 L jag motor. I still have all the old plugs and they are working fine after a clean up. We have ressurected the old carbie by........wait for it! Using the parts from a Mitsubishi Gallant "Nikkon" carbie.....the japenese version of the Solex Looks like Basil will be going to the ball. Can we get to the fuel lines with out taking the motor out, gotta check the filters etc
  20. Yes we have the right plugs, I have a new set to put in him.....at least I can get them here Reckon the oil will have to be changed too, I have bought Valvaline 20 W, can I get to the oil filter without taking the motor out? What kind of oil filter does he use?
  21. PS anything else I should be keeping an eye out for. He was blowing thick black smoke and all the plugs were fouled, stank of fuel. Good compression test
  22. Thanks mate I have emailed Mr Bannister....it is such a nightmare! :nut:
