  1. That sounds intresting, When you say heavy and high ,, could you expand ,, what have you seen and was it down to a squaddi or to the truck or both? , 15 TON PAYLOAD so fv432 is possible,, i know a chap who put a abbott on one that was prob not such a good idea for stability.. but all ended ok.

I have a foden and have never even thought of stability but i am thinking of geting a daf drops.

  2. I could see there might be a issew with the extra hight on 1600 as i would indeed lift the centre of gravity.. aslo load deck hight. But not a squaddi driving rolling it over is less likely...lol

My foden has a deck hight of 6ft6 at the front and 6ft.4 on the rear so a max load of 10ft high.. i put a stolly with a crane on and had to let all the tyres down with the stolly on backwards to get under 16ft6in(min motorway bridge hight and notification) the 432 fits fine took one to beltring this year no probs with anything.

All i was thinking was speed and econemy so going larger tyres was an easy option .But it seems no so easy .Is there any other tyre that will fit the 22.5 rims that will be taller?

  3. The mmlc drops wont take 1600x20 they touch on the swinging arm hub on the back. There is a chap last week tried to fit them( MY IDEA OPS) .I am very supprised myself but i am sure drops were allways 18x22.5. Even the pics in trials were 18x22,5.. So not sure where you got the info.DC has the s26 demo wreaker and yes 1600x20 thats where i got the idea for the sldt. No idea that they had changed the rear bogie setup on a drops and no idea why,

I have a foden drops and i thought about a daf with 20.5x25 and put the civi wheel arch on as the t45cab to cover the larger offset but i do not think there is room between the front tyres but love to try.

    pics tony sent me,,drops

i MIGHT BE SELLING THE FODEN ..maybe px a daf

  4. Wheels and tyres .

Well ill tell you a story. I was allways dissapointed with the top speed of my s26 self load dump truck (sldt).51MPH FROM A 350 ENGINE AT 2200RPM.

    s

So i bought a set of 1600x20 off a foden wreaker. They are so much bigger at 2200rpm it does 67mph.. so now at 55 it runs very sensible 1800rpm with lots of power and torque. Ready for the next hill. This has also make a massive difference in mpg.

  5. 23snapped so not bad. Coverd them in diesel for a week. I am sure it helped. Every time i was there just a walk round with a spray bottle with diesel in ,,, A stud welder it is from the local hire shop,,, great idea i had a look on youtube there are plenty of demos .looks easy???

The turret is off all the wheels .I have put it on a drops pallet so i can take it to the shot blsters 500m away,,,,,,

Its staying on the pallet untill it is finished. Its all going ok. Has anyone an idea of a turret basket new old stock for sale? mine has holes in .IF not a repair. But i would rather new.

Also Saladin parts ???? new only anyone? anything??

  6. has a K60 the same bellhousing as a b80/81 will it bolt up to a saracen/saladin gearbox? fluidflywheel?

A k60 power pack is set up with the gearbox on the side of the engine can it be made to be inline has it been done. will the alison box bolt on to the k60? if so how what is needed.

    any info would be great

  7. Well i have got the foden drops and a saladin but something tracked again i think, i did like the t55 i had(4 years) but it would not fit on the foden.

A small tank (not cvrt) Seridan?? i do like them, are there any for sale or in private hands? AMX13 EM petrol not so sure.. what else is there?

What ever happend to the abbott with the saladin turret on? That looked good.

  8. Still around AL

Yes very high we had to let the tyres down on the stolly to bring it under 16,6 ft ,All bridges must be this high if not they are signed so motorways are ok. We took care in making sure it was under. But the foden is high for sure.

  9. A said there are no locks, also i find on my foden you only need to switch to auto and the pto in on any way, I am under the impression the pto switch is a backup only. I am also told the other options you have are for different bodys ie tipper or fuel. as these need different angles to unload them. My truck works well the angle meter only needs a slight tilt to upset it, LOOK youtube for Foden drops immlc lifting a cvrt.

Also remember there are different rated pallets 10 and 15 ton be aware! metal bed 15 ton wood 10ton.
