    Hi

Is that 636 in the front window. This denote that the vehicle was a contract overhaul at Fazakerley Engineering Co. Liverpool.

All vehicle were marked with this. It is the first three numbers of the contract identifier.

    Hey buddy.

I am a safety boat driver, you will need valid insurance, if you do get a problem and have to abandon vessel the rules of the sea are a little bit different, claiming salvage rights, and I want a stolly so bad ;) where abouts are you looking to launch from? I would highly recommend a escort boat.

    Where abouts are you?

    Flares

    VHF radio,

    Life jackets

    Plenty of fuel lol!

    Cold beer

    Dont forget, Have fun!

  6. Harbour master is a good man to speak too. and i hope to have the Royal marines with us. In a support role if we sink. I hopw we do not but as people have said be safe and ready. We have two diesel water pumps we can hire in. Extra flotation is a good idea but it not a std stolly then. We have saved alot of weight out of the stolly so should float ok. See pic of my old one with the cummins in. Just look how far it is out of the water you can see the indicators when swimming.

  7. Yes my only one,, we have bedford 500turbo engine. Bought the stolly from up Maplethorpe that used to do rides call Funderbirds Blue one in my first vid

What diesels do you have fitted in your fleet? There were some Cummins 6B engined ones around - one was for sale in Southampton(?) area couple of years back, looked tidy.
  8. Hi all

We are going to the Overloard show in May. We are taking a Stalwart on the back of the Foden drops. While we are there we are going to Swim it over to the Isle of White. Do we need to tell anyone ie RNLI as a just in case is there any legal problems. We have lots of safty equipment to take and a boy if it sinks to mark the spot. Well anything you could mention would be great. We know its been done before so its possible. Its going to be a trial for the W&P event across the channel. But lets leave that untill we sort the Isle of White.

We have 5 stollies some u/s but diesel engines.

  9. A couple of point

Daf over bedford all the way the daf has a better engine gbox perm 4wd and as we all like to think offroad the daf is much better on road and to be real thats where its more likley to be most of the time.. both have sim mpg but the daf will do 65mph and 17mpg

RB44 easy to register all this talk under run bars no idea where they get it on a rb44

Tacho,, if its over 3.5t and not 25years old you need one. READ ON if you gross over 3500kg you need a tacho. Even private use now... never used to be. but now you do. There are a few exemptions but not many now even recovery is only 50 mile from base.

Recovery is a sticky place to be,,,,, it should be for only suspended tow.. spec lifts,,,,a tilt and slide or a beavertail carrys i say again carrys so is not exempt , A winch truck can be recovery but can only carry equipment to use for recovery .So if you think your going to put say a damaged trailer on the back forget it only your straps chains or anything else needed. If you have a good STORY be ready to use it.

I was stoped in a beavertail with a stolly on the back on the M25 and i was given a notice to test it. No fine but i had a story" i bought it exempt and didnt know"..?? well it was true and i kept the advert from truck trader as it was only a few weeks before the Mag was still in the truck at the time.

    Hope this helps

  10. Hi all

Our group travels from the Midlands to w&p and when we heard of the move were a little concerned but after looking at the extra mileage and the fact its mostly motorway,, its looking good to us..! We have some big gear my Foden drops 4mpg Scania6x6,m.a.n Kat1 10mpg and a lowloader about the same,,for the Viper,, A FEW QUID MORE IS NOT GOING TO PUT US OFF.

The entrance fee?? £25 is good value and only puts off the jeep and landrover mobs,, yes i am going to get shouted at now but there are just too many of both.. I like pinkis and recce jeeps the armoured jeep and amphib and shorelands piglets etc etc a good selection but there is a limit 200 of each? not how it is now. NO CIVI STUFF good reps are fine like them..!

Its always a great show many good people and great fun..! Looking forward to the new event and very intrested to see how things panout.

I do hope more traders come for MV spares etc as we have lost quite a few over years due to cost of pitch,, not sure if this was the hop farm or Mr R. But i think the hop farm took a nice penny for the site and i think the racecourse will be cheaper so i hope it may bring some back..

Some have said go back to a MV show,,,,,er well em ar ,,,, not sure its a good idea. As the show is MV and the renactors works so well load to see and the chaps who do the show near the exit to the arena put in alot of work and Respect to them and many others...! alike..! It goes for everyone who spends alot of money and effort to get to the show one way or another,,

I also have lots of RESPECT for the show officials who keep it all going,,, RESPECT,,!

As civi thing will be banned i hope....? the TWIK offroaders will be far less no off road lol ,,, dont think we will need there civi discos and 90s

I am sure there will be teething problems but if we all pull together for the Good of us all,,,,,!

All we need is the countdown working NOW...! Time to get ready..

  11. I see a few points where i think none military things could be insured as military ie replicas say the German ARMOURED CARS?? Maybe? Is a replica ok to insure...? A jeeps made from parts is not military and should not be on this type of policy?? there are many built from new parts never been in service or had a military reg number,,, wonder how many that affects ???? are you rocking the boat or sinking it? a little more thought should be given "measure twice cut once.."

I would also point out to many on the bandwagon.....

i have a policy with Footman james and nowhere does it say exmilitary it is called a classic commercial policy. Please could you cheak YOURS?. Confirm you have a military policy . If so ill have to get on the them....! chang mine but i think im ok

    Please advise kind regards,,,,,,

How do i stand with my prototype from Vickers????

  12. Hi all i am a little worried with my truck so i am thinking of a mod,, I have a friend who works at spicer gearboxes in Wolverhampton,, I intend to give him my transfer box to change the gearing of the truck,, at the mo it does 44mph(70kmph) at 2200rpm,, = 4mpg..

The idea is to overdrive the transfer to about 1.25 so it should gain 11mph giving a max of 55mph.. at 2200rpm and hopefully near 5mpg..

The main reason is it can not be good for the engine to be at high rpm all the time so i will drive at 45mph as this is the max rated speed of the tyres. And should be down to 1800rpm still in lots of power and torque. They could have done this when built but they knew squadies would drive them and flatout,,,,, LOL

    What do you think??
