  1. Got home from work and the said pistol was in the kitchen what the %$#@! going on I said to the wife ,, So I've taken it to the Police station after first looking at it they said that it looks ok and that it looks more like an ornament and would be ok ,,,,,,,,, so I explaned what had been said about it , they had another look and said it'd be ok so asked for something in writing to state this , not something that they would do ,,, so I then said i would like it to be checked over in a profesional manner , I now have the paperwork to say its handed in and going to be checked

  2. :-D:-D just great guys , yes its the m715 kaiser , its not hidden no wife its just the blokes gear he plans to rebuild it when he retires but his farther said the other day I should try and buy it as it would clear up lots of room , its in great condition because as you can see its sat here many years , infact i've known the blokes farther since the eightys and was only able to get into this shed maybe 5 years ago due to the amount of gear in there to find this ,

think its the full cab :-D , I found the engine laid outside at some other land that he has , says Tornado on the rocker , going to try and buy it , might be savable

  3. steveo578 this seems to add up , going by the pics you've put up , think removing the concrete would not be to easy , with lots of holes in them now and the rear ends cut out to save the transmision ON ONE , The last time I was at feldom range before I took these pics was in the late eightys , and there was three or four target tanks ,, also used to go up on the other ranges to whatch the winter rally stages about the same

  4. I've now found some more extinguishers , these work , the old chap that i got them from said he has canisters full of the ( transparent ) liquid for refilling , now after what has been said about this liquid on here and from what the old chap says , if it gets hot it gives off a gass that is deadly , he then shows me the said canisters , now some of them were leaking over wood that he burns in the house ???? He then went on to tell me that soldiers used to take it home to use it as polish , and that it was good for cleaning engines , so it was changed with pink dye ,, the extinguisher below is dated 1949 , also found nice old parafin tin

  7. These two are somewhere in the Catterick area the second tank with "windsor turret" is a Khaled suspension test vehicle 99SP29 I think and the Chieftain possibly 02EB49 (although it too had a SP number) could be the former resident of Feldom 3d where both tanks were targets.

There were also a number of trial FV432 (with W_ leter) and FV438 on Feldom until about 2000.

These are within 6 miles of Catterick , there's been targets like this here for a long time ,I think there's some more just the main body that have been cut up , then filled with concrete , the ones above in the pics ones been hit lots but the other does not seem to show any signs of been hit ,, not sure of the name of the range

  8. in between doing a few other jobs , one job that was a bit of lathe work so I thought I'd give the munga pressure plate a quick polish up , I had a few clutch plates but found the one fitted to be very good so will re-use ,,

Is the crane about to lift what looks to be a radial engine

I've got some pics in a few old albums , will try and get some scans , ,

  10. These are used as targets , Farmer was checking stock so I asked if could go allong to get a few pics ,,,, Do'nt know much when it comes to naming tracked vehicles , the first pic is one without tracks or engine number on hull FV469251/1 KL 256 , it had lots of holes in it about 3/4" so had took quite a few hits

    silverbusplusyouthsdadsbuspics192.jpg

The next pics this one does'nt look to bad tracks ok engine still in 6 cylinder firing order but had 12 injecter pipes so maybe 2 for each pot ,,

  11. As your brother is a really nice bloke :), can you ask him if they made the tools to change the timing belts or did they get VW or Volvo ones? I was chasing a set, I know the VW or Volvo ones fit but I don't know the part numbers.

Basically from memory you need 2 lock tools and one tensioner.

I've just done the belts on a VW camper with the same engine and marked the pullleys and the belts then marked the new belts then refit to the marks ,,, remember two paint marks for the camwheel ,

Waterpump was ok , this is the cause of many snapped belts on this type of VW engine ,,,

I've just bought a later one 2001 with the 2.5tdi with both belts snapped ( which I thought very strange ) with only one bent valve ,,, and camshaft in three bits ,,, I think the fuel pump end of the cam has a slot in that a 4mm? piece of steel will fit this lines up with the top of the head ( needs to be evenly packed ) , then there's some dowls that fit some of the pulleys ,, Will try and dig out engine manual should have part numbers for the timming belt setup tools ,,

crank bolt has a high torque setting that is a stretch bolt ( I've re-used them no bother ) does yours have the V or the flat belt driven alternater

  12. hi , the VW engine looks like a 2.0L going by the position of breather and 5 bolt crank + looks to have a 228mm recess for clutch plate which is the largest of the VW aircooled , can tell this as no meat left to suport the preasure plate and ring gear :) so to put a date on it 1975> ,,,

the first and second pic looks a bit like a machine sometimes used on an airfield to help start early jet planes ?? Think there's a pic of one like it in air museum pics ,, found a pic in the link below , 8th post 2nd pic ,,, I know its not quite the same but could it be something like this
