  1. Oh btw, if all goes well with my Dodge I will be present at the events. Unfortunantely I can't participate in the Race to the Bridge since that is only for English (marked) WWII vehicles but they have a different programme for the other vehicles.

The best location to view the Race to the Bridge is, in my opinion at the John Frost bridge. There they will halt and park as well which gives you the time to see them properly. Don't forget to see the para drop on the Ginkel Heath!

    Hi Joris

I'll be at Ginkelse Heide, the drive in Ede and static display.

I'll take my WC 21 and if its dry will cycle around on my BSA parabike.

Also want to go to Eindhoven.

  2. looking good!

Got a price list yet?

Actually its difficult to name a price.

Its a lot of work and asking to much will scare potential buyers and too less will make it a "waste" of time.

Also the chinstraps have to be bought (on their way), aged and installed

These are the trialstages till I got them better.

Using silica as texture is easyer but not authentic, cork is authentic but very difficult.

Cork strewn over the paint makes it stand out like a sore thumb.

    Original ww2 cork is flattened.

Maybe people got suggestions what I should ask? PM me with suggestions.

  3. We went out with the North Oxon and Cotswolds MVT for a 50 mile green lane road run in the Cotswolds and despite all the rain had a brilliant time. 15 vehicles in all, of which 11 were Jeeps. Some of the other drivers commented on that my 44 MB was smoking quite a bit and suggested that it might partly be down to the oil. I use a 20 50 from Tescos at about £3.00 a gallon. It was suggested that i use a straight 40 which costs about £10 a litre. So the question is what oil do you put in yours?

During the road run there were four fords to negate. The water i think was about 18 to 24 inches deep and quite exciting to drive through. What did suprise me was the length of time it took for the brakes to recover. For about 5 miles i had no brakes whatsoever and then for the next 10 the Jeep would randomly and severely pull to the left or the right as i gently touched the brakes. Has had anybody had this sort of problem.

By the time i got home about 3 hours later it was all working fine again, but are there any particular actions that i should take to help offset the imersion in water and potential damage to the brake cylinders. If anybody suggests cuddle the Jeep with a warm towel, well i do that every night anyway.

    Tim (too)

    I use 15W40.

I only had those kind of braketroubles in the Ardennes cause of driving through clay-mud.

I rinsed the brakelinings with a watersprayer for indoorplants from our mum, worked!

  4. Hi all.

Flew back in from the US this afternoon......wow that was a bit :-o :oops2:

I see Paul has now become a Sir :-o and has Snapper learnt how to upload images yet? :argh:

    Fill me in!!

Pregnant? I didn't do that it's just malicious gossip :argh:

I am busy making repro helmets...nothing further to reveal.. :flower:

  5. Ashley, yep, I wouldn't want to be accused of making it too easy for others to sell them as genuine.

Cara, the Dutch are rear-seam but I am converting some too look like front seam.

Also planning on making Fixed and D bales out of the swivel ones.

Still a lot to experiment for better results.

  6. The No7 set was manufactured by Carnage USA so I'm wondering why it was a French or Norweigan practise??Seem if it was manufactured in the US then it's an american Addition to a truck???

Cheers guys for the info,I've found #ORD6 J7/9 Set No 7. Hoist & Towing parts list is what I'm after, anyone have a copy?????

The French also made/used the Handy Talkies (we say walkie talkie) and the BC1000 so it could be possible they used lots more US transmitters and such.

  7. Does anyone know which headlamps fit the lamp bowls on the Jimmy, are they a standard size as I havn't measured mine as yet. Which type are the best with or without side lights, sealed beam or changeable lamps??

I have got plastic :? :? headlamps at the moment which are cracked.

    regards

    Steve

In Holland sealed beam aren't allowed in our MOT.

Guess they will be more expensive anyway and probably easier to have bulbs instead of entire lenses in your spareparts box anyway.
