Just had all the mains and big ends on the gardner 6LW for our Scammell Pioneer done by Taff Hughes at DPH engineering in Somerton, Somerset.

I've been mulling this over for when I get to that point too. Looking at the design of the trommels it seems anything you can cobble up to check the concentricity and alignment will do. In typical Scammell manual style it doesn't exactly have a great deal of detail on the matter either, could do with some more info on the tolerances involved.

bloody difficult and usually involves a lot of expletives. I have a metal syringe about 3 inches diameter and about 12 inches long, that does the trick.
Good luck, Richard

wasn't the one in Dirty Dozen an sdkfz 9? and they were manufactured by Famo. Maybe production was supplemented by other manufacturers???

Well done sharky,
I considered this one myself. Quite jealous, I think it's a lovely looking truck.
All the best, Richard

Oh blimey, what a nightmare. On the upside I met Ben, Peter and Tom over there, top blokes and very lucky they were passing by. I'd kill for the opportunity to do a proper recovery like that when my Pioneer is done.
Hope you get her fixed soon, not enough of these lovely commonwealth trucks about.
All the best, Richard

Broken pushrod incident!? Funny you should say, cos I'm part way through rebuilding the 6LW fom our Pioneer and some of our push rods are worn through on the ends. Think we might need some new ones.

I don't think it can be driven on the road, so it will be arena or wooded areas..
No, just thought it a good idea anyway.
-
You can drive it when it is done, or come and play in it, is that kind enough...
Woohooo thankyou. I better crack on and do my tracked vehicle licence

Hi Robin,
Yeah I presumed I was miles from anywhere, I drove up here from Montreal and didn't see a lot on the way except wonderful snow covered scenery.
Not sure if I'm going to have any time at end depends how it goes, but flying out of here may 16th to Montreal then back to London from there.
What were doing is very sensitive to wind, so I was thinking if we got another day off due to wind if there was anything reasonable drive from sept iles to go see for the day.
Cheers, Richard

Hello Canadian friends,
I am working in Sept Iles in Quebec until May 16th, and wondering if there are any places of military vehicle interest in the area?
