  1. I had this twice with a Jeep.

First time, i found play in the sector shaft from the steering box. Rebuilt it and the problem went away. Second time it was a slight buckle in the front wheel. Again this was changed and the problem went away.

I'm afraid it could be a number of things but certainly front end and accociated with steering and wheels. Tyre pressure following storage would be an obvious thing to check first, but you will be luckly if its just that.

Best of luck...hope you find the problem soon.

  2. That MW was lovely. Someone got a real deal there.

Bidding actually started to stutter at 4k so i joined in but stopped at 5 (i don't need another one!!). No idea why it struggled, especially considering the prices being paid for spares on the day. I overbid on at least 3 lots and still came home with nothing. Interesting day though.

  3. After a couple of poor purchases i've finally found a decent Exhaust Manifold (thanks Andy S). This ones in very good condition c/w working heat control valve. Just need to get it skimmed then it will be ready to fit.

  4. Hi,

Thanks for your note. I'm always interested to see photo's of the original positions of retaining clips etc, so thank you. I notice some clips have been remade (shovel and starting handle) and are currently on ebay. I've bought one of the shovel ones...it's really good.

    Cheers

  5. That's £3 more then i spent!!

I did see some Guide reflectors that would have been usable on my Ford Jeep project. As it was the very first stall i decided to leave them in case there were better finds to spend my money on. As it was they would have been the only things i bought, so regret it now. Hope they wasn't F stamped under all that paint!!

  6. Went to my first Autojumble at Beaulieu last weekend and despite there being more stalls then you could possibly do in a day, there were almost no military vehicle spares to be had. I found this surprising and wondered if anyone else had any luck?

  7. Thanks for the responses lads.

Bawtrylwt , yes I believe it is. There's an exploded diagram on a previous 'Wanted' post of mine. Could you possibly send me a photo? Jack1940@sky.con.

Argot1751, thanks for that, gives me another option. If you could let me have the contact details that would be great.

Mike, yes i will give the main dealers a call if I have no luck with the above.

    Thanks again

  8. Found a crack whilst replacing a suspected blown gasket on my exhaust manifold this morning. A replacement will be very hard to find I think so repair is my only option. Has anyone had any success with repair compounds such as 'Inferno' or is this just a quick temporary fix?

    Thanks

  9. Now back from a fantastic week in Normandy. 800 miles covered in the Jeep and Bedford and have stiff joints to prove it!! Spent most of yesterday power washing the remains of Utah and Omaha beach off the vehicles.

Met some new people and chatted to Veterans most places we visited. The turn out of WW2 Military vehicles was overwelming!! Highlight for me was running into an Armoured Convoy coming in the opposite direction on a small side road leading from Utah beach. 3 Shermans, 1 Chaffee? plus at least 3 Half Tracks and 3 M8's, lead by 2 WLA's. An amazing site (and sound) indeed!!

Hope all who attended got back ok.

    Richard
