  1. Just come across this amazing short film of the Red Barons funeral when a Tender was used as a funeral vehicle. Tom
  2. Sounds like poetry to me in more ways than one! Tom :cool2: By coincidence after the clip the youtube featured "up next" shows Irish Republic song Boys Of KilMichael which has a lyric reference to Crossley Tenders 1-00 minute in
  3. Here is a clip from our trip to ireland in the summer, no ambushes! Listen for the gearchanges Tom
  4. Tony, Glad to here you are in. Snap, I will be joining and hopefully overtaking you if I successfully make the drive down to London in the Crossley Tender! Please bring a rope as I will not be preparing my vehicle other than filing up a couple of big ends. Tom
  5. E-Bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160536876447&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_983wt_1139
  6. Here are some RFC/RAF Photos including 2 Tenders http://www.prewarcar.com/magazine/previous-features/flying-aces-up-front-015043.html
  7. I think the car body is Crossley with wheel arches filled in? They were used in Africa as I have a spare gearbox recovered from SA. Comparing the pictures the seat backs seem to be a little higher but generally the same shape, possibly slightly earlier type, see first image with the same body side trim which I believe confirms identification.
  8. For those who have a need! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250765821911&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_1156 Tom
  9. Great picture, I wonder what prompted the photo to be taken? The chap facing the camera appears to have a camera and does the happy chap to our right have a baguette? Tom
  10. Says 'complete with steering mechanism and part of the diff' Picture shows the chassis which looks very straight and sound. Front and rear axles wheels, springs and original mountings and greasers some brake linkages and looks like brake shoes Unfortunately no engine or gearbox! Tom
  11. Received my Automobile a couple of days ago, a Great War Dennis chassis is shown on near the sea in Donegal, says it has been there uncovered for 15 years. Looks in good shape for this age of lorry. Is this one known about? its looking for someone to recover it! Tom
  12. We are not finished with winter yet its only January 8th Here we have the old and the not so old types of ambulance in Alsace The older one has much better protection for the driver! Tom
  13. The fifth vehicle along a Crossley tender has a vertical wood support behind the front seat with a clevis arrangement which I believe is to support a lewis machine gun. The same vehicle or very similar to the one below? If it is the same one it has suffered in the interim! Detail is always most interesting
  14. Here is some background on driving Crossley Tenders in Ireland http://irishconstabulary.com/topic/727/Transport-Code-of-the-Royal-Irish-Constabulary-1921 Tom
