  1. Hi rob.

Quote. The small stainless steel bellows in the pressure reducer on my explorer split last year and i am pretty sure it was due to ice. Anyone know where i can get a new one. Air was leeking out of the breather on this valve so i have sealed it off as the valve no longer works. however it means the truck now runs full air pressure on the braking system, It does stop well though but i will have to see what its like on a road run as it may suffer with brake surge plus the air pressure will vary as the govener cuts in and out.

Do you have a part number of the valve assembley. or is there a number tag on the valve.

  2. I always find this photo pleasing Unipower badges Scammell S24 bridging truck, look at the size of those boots. I am aware that some wreckers were sold in the middle east but did the bridging truck seen here gain any sales abroad

    Hi Les.

The S24 bridging Vehicle ( S24 6x6 Drops ) where built for Thailand for a company called Williams Fairy Engineering which

had a contract to supply 3 for the Thailand Army. They were ordered in March 1990, the first one was completed in May 1990 chassis number CB10016 and the last 2 were completed in July 1990 chassis numbers CB10017 & CB10018.

I'll post some pics of them being tested when i can upload them to my computer.

  3. I know the methanol was not vapourised when it entered the air system. it was put in the emergency Red line and then air from a workshop compresor filled the system.

may be this is why the valves are f.....d.

  4. The methanol was given to the guy by a Reme mech. so who knows what was in it. any way. I just need to replace all the valves and a couple of other parts and the jobs a good'n.

    Cheers.

  5. Hi Delta.

Some one else used the methanol in the truck, not me. i'm just the person

    sorting out the problem.

It would be the standard rubber components used in air brake valves.

( seals, O-rings etc ). so i'm not sure of their properties or if methanol will affect them. But as i said in one of my earlyer posts this problem has only started since this person has used this in the air system.

  6. so methylated spirit would not affect rubber seals?:( or is it the QTY used

that is the problem. Just seems very strange that since this has been used in this air system the vehicle has now developed the valve problems over the last couple of months.

  7. Hi All.

I'm currently working on a 35t scammell crusader which has problems with

the air system.( not maintaining air pressure in the tanks ).

I've since found out that Methanol had been used on this vehicle. After doing a system air test on the truck it was found that ALL of the valve seals were leaking. I can only put this down too the Methanol being used in the vehicle. because before this was used the vehicle was fine with no

problems with the air system. I will be fitting auto drain valves too the truck when all the valves and a couple of tanks are changed. this truck has no air dryer fitted' so i will be fitting one to the system.

  8. Hi matt.

Just one other thing too check is the o ring in the fuel filter housing, when you changed the filter was the rubber seal seated in the housing correctly. I had this problem getting the seal to seat properly on a bedford

just recently it kept on twisting. (just something to check ). hope this is of some help.
