We all love pics so post em up!
My thoughts are deacs will be out of range of the average Joe eventually, if the flow of new deacs is stopped they will become prohibitively expensive more quickly, I just bought a second Bren for this reason as theyre good value currently.

Looks great, and a very good idea for mounting thanks.

hmm thanks Chris, interesting to hear the differences in deac standards.
I have recently heard elsewhere from an experienced member that many of the .50s are made from parts and not complete original guns.

Good discussions guys....where does this leave us with usage in Jeeps? :undecided:
The SAS used them on a pedestal and airborne on a sand bag, are we to assume all other usage was impromptu or limited?
-
I did wonder myself why the company was selling in the LH area.
Maybe the field change is because its outgrowing the field its in though as it seems quite full?
Have to say the dust was a real problem this year but I guess its better than mud!

I think the windscreen would normally be down or removed anyway.
Was the Bren 100 mag the same as a vickers mag?
-
I think Steve means the integral bipod not tripod which would make sense and I might try this when its together.
Heck any period gun on a jeep looks nice

Guys much like my post on the Bren gun.... anything in particular to look for when buying a deac .50?
Can they be lifted onto a Jeep pintle by one reasonably strong person?
They seem to be rising steadily in price and I'd like to get one before they go stratospheric.

I think the gun would be further back, its just been left forward here. I've seen some improvised brackets in one photo.
The cartridge would of course go in the footwell which takes us back to your earlier comment, youd have to be very careful to protect the family jewels :-|

A friend of a friend who I camped with at War and Peace has one of these. In fact he has 2 to make 1!
He showed me the photos of them, he would probably love to chat to you about them, he said he's only met one other owner of these...maybe its you?

Good answers guys thanks.
I think bringing my 20mm anti aircraft gun into the lounge may be pushing it :nut:

ok a question for the not sure corner.
As Deacs arent firing and we all have a go at shooting the tv screen indoors (oops just me?) do they need copious amounts of oil / grease? My good lady will just about tolerate me playing with my guns in the lounge but getting grease everywhere aint gonna help love politics
I took most of the old grease out of the Bren apart from the sears as it was ancient, will the action wear down horribly if I dry fire?
If I need to regrease can I just use a small amount of car type grease?
Lastly will the gun rust living indoors with no oil on the outside frame?
Thanks y'all

Hey All,
Now I have the Bren can anyone tell me what configurations it was used on a Jeep please, better still a photo.
I've read they were used with a sandbag on the front...was this just by airborne?
Were they also used on a mount? Theres a Bren side mount on ebay was this 'officially' used or a field mod?
Thanks

I've used a freinds PRR radios in convoy off roading and they are really excellent quality and easy to use.
The Bowman kit is all based I believe around the Harris radios from America, pretty much everything is available including the laptops etc. This doesnt mean you can access the army chat of course as its all digitally encrypted.

Cool!

I bought a really nice Mk1 Enfield with cover for £225 on day 1. I looked at every Bren at the show twice and very few are below £300, most seem to be around £350 with cheapest dovetail being £400. Ryton Arms did have some MK1's at £295.
I noticed that some have a welded barrel release lever on the side and some will release, so I made sure I got one that moved.
I'm happy with the price as I dont want to put large sums of money into my collection.
Has anyone got a Bren tripod mount they want to sell?

Thanks guys, I thought Wednesday arrival was ok but it sounds late!

Hi all,
Can anyone advise where the best -and by this I mean quietest part to camp is?
I've heard theres a quiet field, is it a million miles from civilisation? Does it have facilities? Do the fields closer to the 'action' fill up first and can you choose to go to the quiet bit?
Thanks
