  1. Thanks for that piece of information. As I understand this, the distance from the body front to the back of the wheel arch is the same for both 86in and 88in. To make an 88in, I would need to insert a 2in slice behind the arch to make it an 88in. Wonderful stuff! Mike
  2. Those pages will be very useful Oh Five, thank you. Are there any sections within that manual which describe the measurements of those body panels and road springs, or even diagrams? cheers, Mike
  3. Sorry for the delay in responding guys, I have just had knee surgery and only now been able to get back to the mancave. The information you are providing is very useful to me and I am compiling a small project pack with those details. I can't (not allowed) use sharp instruments at the mo' as I am on blood thinning tablets; however, I am keen to start scratchbuilding one each of those 80in, 86in and 88in chassis at the earliest opportunity. I plan to draw up the leaf springs in CAD and then 3D print them; hence why I would like to try and find the details for them, just to get it right. All the best, Mike
  4. That is what has been confusing me with that plan. How can it be both 86" and 88" when it shows the axle line to be in one position. Does that drawing show an 86" and I have to move the axle back 2" for the 88" or is it the other way around? I am assuming that the differences are made at the rear. Can anyone here please advise me how many leaves make up the front and back springs on the Series One; also the dimensions of them? The only drawings that I have seen show those areas blanked out by the wheels. Thank for all your input, especially with those little pieces of additional information, I do appreciate it and would like to see more information please. Cheers, Mike
  5. You are way out of touch David. Times have changed; the cost of raw materials have gone up exponentially, people wages have risen exensively since 1970 and we demand more accuracy with technically advanced components in our models. These all lead to us having to pay more for what we want Mike
  6. Hi Dan, thanks for the recommendations, I am looking forward to the Airfix srs1 kit in order that I can measure up the parts to 1:35. I've already started so let's hope that, by doing this, I shall be helping other modellers get a 1:35 scale kit! cheers, Mike
  7. Photographing a plan from a book would give false measurements. I couldn't afford to go to Reading for the task anyway. Looking into their facilities, I am guessing that most of their material is historical information; with names, locations and dates being the prime research for visitors. The museum holds lots about the censuses; plus family, military and rural histories and so I think they expect visitors to take written notes for their research. That is something that I had been doing for about 40 years, I researched maritime subjects and note taking was very much part of my research. Trying to build a model truck, with the various contours of the chassis; the bolt-on and welded plate locations and wiring etc., need a diagramatic plan, with dimensions. Hopefully, someone here will have such a copy, or point to an affordable source. Buying books, just for a single page containing a plan is also out of my reach. cheers, Mike
  8. Thanks for the link but I'm not getting anywhere with it. I found the relevant file (TR WAL DO1/4/42-128); however, it appears to be a book that cannot be loaned out. I would have to travel to Reading, from Burnham on Sea, to read it. It even states that visitors can't use the photocopier there, so that's no use to me. Does anyone in this forum hold a copy of a plan of either vehicle which they could scan and share please? cheers, Mike
  9. Hello all and Happy New Year! I have recently bought some 3D printed vehicle cabs, one is a Bedford TJ and the other a Thames Trader. I shall have to scratchbuild the chassis' and bodywork for these models but I cannot find any suitable plans/diagrams. I have Googled and looked at various vehicle sites but to no avail. Can anyone here please advise me where I could obtain copies, downloads or scans of such? All the best, Mike

  11. Hi Peter, thanks for those dimensions, I didn't realise that the 88" was actually wider as well as longer. Hello Dan, that is just the sort of drawings which I am looking for. Would there be any chance of obtaining flat scans of those, so that I can print them out and use as templates please? Best Wishes, Mike
  12. Hi ruxy, thanks for the book description. I did a search and found this one on Amazon; however, at £438 I think that I shall have to make do with the low res image. I'm not aware of the LR series ONE club forum. Would I be right to think it is only for real Land Rover owners, rather than models of? cheers, Mike
  13. Hello all, I hope that you had a happy and peaceful Christmas with good cheer. I have started a little modelling project in which I want to scratchbuild a series I Land Rover in 1:35 scale. I don't think there is such a model to that scale in the marketplace so I am going to attempt my own. I don't have any decent plans of how the chassis or the leaf suspension looks like; however, I have found this low-resolution image. Can anyone please advise me which publication the drawing is from? Or could anyone please provide a well detailed drawing similar to it? Best Wishes, Mike
  14. Hello all, I like to build models of British vehicles and one that I would like to make is an Austin K3 canteen type vehicle. I've seen a few photos of such vehicles but have no idea of the shape or dimensions of the chassis; or the layout of the axles and leaf springs. Can anyone here please help me to identify those items in order that I could make a start? Best Wishes and Merry Christmas to all, Mike
  15. Hi Richard, I don't have access to Facebook but I would be interested to receive any of your data on those vehicles please. I am building a diorama of a town scene, around the 1950s, and the Bedfords were quite common then. I can find bodywork images, mostly modern restoration stuff, online; however, the underside details elude me. I generally start my build with the chassis, then suspension and followed by the bodywork etc., but the lack of suspension details is holding me back at the moment. All the best, Mike
  16. Anyone got an answer on my request please?I was told all OXCs came out from the factory as OXDs then modified as OXC. Are they having the same number of leaves springs (rear)? How many? I knew some early production OXDs had 15 leaves springs (rear), the same as OXA. Cheers, Mike
  17. Hello, I am trying to scratch build a Bedford OXA and OXD, any idea on the number of leaves in the suspension please? It seems to be 9 at the front and 7 primary plus 3 secondary in the rear. Can anyone provide details, and photos if possible please? cheers, Mike
