  1. Just live with it Chris! Your brother will leave you in a cloud of dust with his cummins L10 250hp conversion anyway. Unless you intend on travelling further afield- i.e; pickering, ect..... just leave 'Old smokey' plodding on!
  2. Oh, sorry... I forgot it's yours! Aaahh well at least you got a trip to flookburgh and back in it... It was too fast for you anyway- I'll have more chance of keeping up with you now you've installed 'old smokey'. LOL P.S. Don't forget your can of easy start for those cold mornings!!!:nut:
  3. I know where there's a 'CRACKING' 690 turbo... not to far away from you either!:cool2:
  4. Hows the cummins conversion coming on? Oh, and when are you going to treat yourself to something that does more than 35 MPH???? LOL:cool2:
  5. MMM... Near a dark place called Salthouse mills too..... Lots of gubbins down there- including the 'Glamourflaged' Martian! When will it all see the light of day?????
  6. All the info is much appreciated lads, as it will cut down a bit of the head scratching and get me away from just leaving the old Leyland 680 in!
  7. Not sure if anyone has seen my new purchase before- no sign of it on militant grahams website??? HDS 515H
  8. I'll pass the request on... he has two petrol lumps sat there. I reckon they'd make good mooring roots for a boat!!!
  9. There seems to be a lot of meadows engines getting ripped out!!! My pal 'Bigsteve' is currently fitting an L10 in place of the old meadows petrol. The L10 looks a compact unit, but I like the idea of fitting a british lump and the rolls will certainly fill all the space under that bonnet! I had thought about a turbocharged version on the rolls eagle, but all that extra power has to go somewhere. As I have a fully recon N/A 220hp engine to go in, I'll stick with it- I can always fiddle with the fuelling a bit if need be!!!
  10. While I'm on.... Has anyone got any tips regarding dropping a Rolls Eagle diesel in my Scammell (other than don't bother)??!! It looks like the front crossmember will have to come out for some serious mods, due to the length of the rolls. I'm also not sure about whether I'll be able to use the Scammell clutch housing cover, as thats for a single plate push clutch and the Rolls has a twin plate pull stet up- I may have to cobble something up from a modern g/box bell housing and input shaft?! The sump needs altering too, as the well is at the wrong end!!! Any thoughts?
  11. I think I'd be intrested in tose plans too! The day is going to come when green paint wont hold that rotten wood together anymore!!!
  12. I guessed that someone had had a lot of fun with it- lots of battle scars! Someone sent me some pics of it on a 'mud run' in the early 1990's, i'll have to dig them out and get them on here.
  13. :mailforyou:Have you painted it yet??? the colour I think you actually want is British Standard Drab Olive Green:coffee:
  14. That's the one...: I think we were stood chacting next to an explorer with a 'thrown back prop- a maroon one from the dorset heavy horse centre.... I also seem to remember that your missus was wearing black leather strides- funny how some thinks stick in your mind!!!:nut: P.S. Hows the Meadows Diesel treating you?
  15. Hello Bodge Deep.... I'm the bloke that was picking up my new- old R.E. Dyson Plant trailer, near J36... with my Scammell Explorer!

  16. P.S. Have you seen my thread yet, Lance Corporal Alderson!!! LOL:rotfl: You'll be getting dressed up next- especially when the sheep dealling machine gets a coat of NATO green! :-D
  17. Hello 'big chris':mailforyou: Hows it hanging! :cool2: R u up for an 80 + 80 mile road trip at the weekend:shake:- I've found somemore shows, too!!!:readpaper:
  18. Cheers mate! I've got a load of stuff that I've never got around to putting on there, too.... including a good one with me setting off home with my new R.E. 20t Dyson Plant Trailer on tow.:cool2:
  19. Cheers! It is good to be memorable- even though the rear diff episode was a right pain in the a**e....:argh: P.S. I still have the old landy mag somewhere with the Keith Gott ad, advertising forceful!!!:coffee:
  20. That really is a deep hole- Front axle is earning its keep!!! I've also met the owner of 'Tigger', an explorer that I seriously considered buying, even though it was probably one of the biggest bags of s*** that I looked at! The bloke from Dorchester had done a real job of sorting it all out when I saw it at GDSF in 2007:bow: and he was a little suprised when I asked if it was the one from Hawick. It was now re-registered, painted up, and bodily/mechanically sorted- so he was well chuffed when I gave him credit where it really was due!!!!!:bow::clap::bow::clap: When I had gone to view it, it had gone dark by the time we arrived.:argh: However, it was still plain to see in the glow of car headlights, that it was 'very sore' on the tin and wood work side of things. It had obviously had a very hard life, as the gear gate had broke off and was splinted with wood and rope. The back of the gearbox was supported in a C section frame off the chassis, picking up the dropbox casing bolts, as the rear mountings had been smashed off. The front tyres really were as bald as a coot, and the rears were well and truly perrished...:undecided: It did however sound absolutely amasing, as 'big chris' will no doubt agree- the turbo'd Leyland 680, cracked up straight away on a 10p piece and then the whole thing sat there purring away like a big diesel loco.... If I could of only managed to get a gear or two and drive the damm thing around a bit... I'd have bought it there and then!:nut:
  21. I have also met other fellow Scammellers; 'gritineye'- I contacted you many, many, many moons ago, when I had done my rear diff in.... I also had a natter with you at last years W&P show- I was the fella who was snooping around your scammell trying to eye up the cummins conversion, as well as the short prop rig up on next doors eagle powered explorer! 'rbrt crowther'- I chatted with you and your good lady at GDSF about three years ago- you hadnt long got your explorer home... from Mamby, if my memory serves me correctly???
  22. On my Scammelling travels, I've have met 'Bodge Deep', when collecting my R.E. 20T Dyson Trailer at J36 M6.
  23. This is one of the 3 explorers in Barrow in Furness- mine being the first!!!... then 'Big Steve', and now 'Big Chris'.:drive::drive::drive:
