Daft question this.... can anyone advise on what crusaders are making on the open market??? Obviously junk starts at what it's worth for scrap/export, but what about reasonable examples and the few real good ones??? -

Explorer Diffs; It's late so if I'm off at a tangent, then forgive me... Bowman oil cooler- It's a nice to have, but unless your doing major road work or hauling across the sahara, then they can be ran without... just pipe up the oil pump outlet to the diff oil feed. Gear driven oil pump- Never, Never, Never, run the explorer any distance without a fully functioning oil pump!!! The rear bearing which carries the worm drive will not recive adequate lubrication, via 'splash lubrication' due to its position. I can vouch for this as I leart this lesson the hard way... Just for info the oil isnt feed at high pressure.... it's just a nice slow constant supply which increase with speed. As for scored/marked bronze crown wheel... well so what, I haven't seen any that arn't. So long as you havent got any significant play in the worm bearings and you got some good thick greasy oil in there, I wouldn't worry. :cool2: -

I just need to finish off and prime up this repair, one of the evenings after work this week... if I remember, I take a pic or two of the finished article. Then the intention is to do the same on the passenger side one of the days next B/H weekend, before I move to the lower panel either side of the cab behind the doors. :nut: Keep tuned in folks for the next gripping installment!!! :cool2: -

It's not galvo, just good quality heavy gauge mild steel sheet.... I purchased an 8 x 4ft sheet to do the cab and whats left over will get used on other projects. I'll give it a good lick of red oxide primer on the outer surface and a coat of galvafroid zinc rich primer on the stuff underneath. Flanges were 'developed using a standard vice, a big hammer, the side of my old fella's circular sawbench and anything else that came to hand! The small curving part to the front of the flange was a combination of a small radiused edge formed by the big hammer, then finished of by welding in a piece which was cut and curved to shape. -

I don't think my attempts are too bad.... considering I'm restricted to an angle grinder and a big hammer!!! :nut: Thats funny regarding the passenger seat, as my milly has a non standard civvy seat fitted?! -

You must have a good one then! :cheesy: This one is mechanically good and has only just come out of service, being replaced by an ex mod Foden. The price was right and the rust isn't actually that bad, its only in areas where the scottish road salt has had a chew... The milly was always stored inside. -
