We did a lot of that route in 2004 with a couple of universal carriers, great fun ! But we will be going direct to Oosterbeek next year with the armour.

Sounding nice Rick ! Just remember they need bags of fuel to start from cold . Just like the comet in the engine bay. Should have cromwell moving next year if all goes to plan.

Folks , First of all "The East England Tank museum" is a private ltd company and nothing at all to do with the East England Military museum ( Battlefront) which is our charity . Yes we did move from Barnham near Thetford to the Sunday Market at Snetterton . We were there for 3 years, but after broken promises, plans, support and goal posts moving things were going no where so we took the plunge and relocated again .
Now nearly a year later the museum is based on Old Buckenham airfield the home of the 453 bomb group of the 8th US AAF (this was James Stuart base ) . The airfield is still active with vintage aircraft based there (WW2cub , stearmans to name a couple). The museum has the full support of the airfield management and are putting on a combined effort to create a (mini Duxford/Goodwood for Norfolk) . With the ever growing collection and the financial backing from many sources it is the forward plan of both the Airfield and the museum to erect WW2 style buildings to house both the museum collection and airfield office, air traffic control and cafe etc.
The museum now , once again has a growing group of volunteers , many ex REME and vehicle owners , who give up their time at weekends to get the vehicles and equipment back up and running after 3 years in storage. So finally things are heading in the right direction again.
I'm sure you will have noticed we will be holding our show this year "military revival" ( http://www.militaryrevival.com) in October . There is to be an exciting press release in the near future with regards to the show that I'm sure many of you will be pleased to here. This will be a event well worth the effort of attending.
I will try and keep you all up dated on here as to the progress .
For accurate information on any thing to do with any of the above drop me a line and don't listen to 3rd party gossip . We are always happy to chat.
well that should put you all in the picture

Here are some more photos before the vehicle had a fresh coat of sand paint.
on the engine bay photo you can seen this vehicle is totally different to any other hull in the fact that the dividing wall to the right of the driver is welded in place, there are 3 small square access pannels in the wall to allow access to the engine, some are visable with the drivers hatch open. Also the main bulk head with the fan in is different, it has been welded in place with only the fan side being removable (the staggered joint is visable in the photo. ) also the vehicle has had the rear tow bar MOD and does not have the single point attachment in the center.

Hi, the vehicle was in a locked workshop, the workshop was also barricaded with other vehicle following a possible attempt to remove the vehicle on Monday. It was a special projects vehicle and is very modified under the engine deck and stands out from normal Scorpions to any one with a basic knowledge of these vehicles , it is painted in sand paint. I will try and get Dave to post some photos ,but I know he has had a very busy day with the police (who I am pleased to say are taking this very very seriously ) keep your eyes open guys !

Glad to see work is on the move with the vehicle Rick, keep it gooing now.

Hi All. Can any one help? I am trying to find pictures and history on two Scimitars. Does anyone have any pictures of 04FD16 and 03FD06 and are these vehicles still in one piece in private ownership? A new chap came to sit next to me in work and these were his first vehicles when new. Thanks in advance. Ed (Jimmygmc4)
Hi Ed,
I have just came across your post re 04FD16 - i have this vehicle and it is still going well as a Scorpion. in fact i have just repainted it in the colours it worn in Gulf war 1. Are you still intouch with the old crew man ? TTFN Shaun

I was there on the Sunday, i went on my Harley 350 just glad i didnt take anything that used more fuel. Very few public and no advertising or signs saying it was on. I thought i would support them as i run another museum in the area but it was not as it used to be. The effort was there but just lacked the spark of old.

climbed all over them last year , in fact i moved the 25pdr there last year, they are going to Hever Castle once the museum there have the space to take them.

looks like the weather is going to hold off for the two day show on our former B24 bomber base (it was home for Jimmy Stuart) the 453 BG of the US 8th AAF.
Lots of aircraft including Spitfire, Mustang, P40 .......... Flying and landing as well lots of civiy stuff. Last year we had near 10,000 public through the gates as well as heaps of miliitary vehicles and classic car. This year there is a beer festival and hanger dance.
we have started to move some of our kit out of the hanger and on to the show field.
no pass needed if you are in a military vehicle just roll up .
