Work has slowed up in the last few months, doing some work in Sri lanka and getting married all takes up too much time!
i did start to make the rear hood bows and troop seats, was about halfway into it when a set turned up in france! always the way! so they have been purchased and will be fitted next month. The canvas is in Progress thanks to Jim and Allied Canvas, fingers crossed will have it all together before Christmas. also modified a trailer socket to mount a standard 7 pin socket insde, worked out well, now have some LED rear lights on magnetic plates for longer trips
Were planning a trip to the Belgium winter rally next year, driving the GTB, Dodge 1/2 ton and maybe another 1/2 ton, so that's my aiming point to have it all finished.

Kubota make some excellent little tractors, with all the features of a full size tractor. they hold there value very well and keep on going forever. early ones (back in the 70, 80's i think) did not have a water pump and suffer from sludge build up in the cooling system if not cleaned regularly. the other problem i have had with them is PTO gears shear if over stressed, but these are a five minute job to change and not dear to buy.
ebay or farm auto trader is a good place to start.
stay well clear of the cheap Chinese imitations, my experience is they fall apart and are far from reliable, plus parts are hard to get.

sounds like a good price, although the Grill is not original, looks like one of the new repros. slat grill jeep would also have a Sheller steering wheel. What serial number is it? only about 5000 slats had a glove box, rounded tank welll and combat rims, between serial numbers MB 120XXX to MB 125XXX cant remember the exact numbers.

Great project you got there Mark, looking forward to seeing the progress.
it was nice to meet you at Tanks in Town, very impressed with the Jackson:thumbsup:

We had a great time again, the no steel tracks rule seems to have put a few off maybe, as numbers of tanks were down a fair bit compared to the last time we went, but still a great weekend, watching the T's towing some heavy armour was brilliant. it would also seem the fun police are becoming more noticeable at the event.
we snuck the jeep into the armoured convoy after Cuesmes:D and the off road sections were certainly fun in the jeep! the heavy stuff was leaving some big wet ruts for us to play in, we got through almost unscathed as the head gasket threw its hand in as we arrived at the battle field:undecided:.

we'll be there until monday, will be buzzing around in my jeep, reg no. GAS 469 it will be the only jeep with british 12th Army markings, were usually found near a watering hole!

there was one for sale at west meon farm sales in april, it was very original from what i could see, even original tyres! only issue was it had been used as a dung trailer for many years so was pretty well rotten:-(
don't think it sold so probably went for scrap, or it might turn up at the next auction.

Here is a link to the route http://maps.google.be/maps/ms?hl=fr&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=104648807025599547399.00048e3228499fec04518&t=h&z=13
seeing them set off is a great start, Cuesmes is a great place to watch them rolling in, they take a break here for bit, the last time we slipped in with the armoured convoy after cuesmes and followed them up to the battle reenactment field, trying to keep up with a sexton during the off road section was fun, we could barely keep up at times in a jeep! we followed for a bit more then went into Mons and watched them coming into the square which was just amazing.
the softskin convoy is just as impressive aswell.
might see you there.

Who is going then? we are heading over in the jeeps on Friday.

i think that reenactors do a great job of Making a show, without them would it be as big? and if people feel the need to dress up, who's to stop them, and its a fair point that all sides are represented.
But why wear uniforms in the bar at night? the days show is over, surely? even more annoying when head dress is not removed!

wow, i want one! but the missus reckons it wont fit in the garden!

glad to hear, you wont be disapointed withtthe result. they have done some real oddball carbs for me in the past and its never been a problem for them, the results are great and the price always been very reasonable.
Cheers

well this is the end of the reme collection
Among six "high-value" barracks to be sold is the School of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers in Bordon, Hants.
SEME at bordon has been on the cards for a few years now hasn't it?
my dad worked for vospers teaching CVRT and 432 maintenenace a few years back, they were told then that in 2013/14 they would all be moving to wales.
will be sad to see it go, lots of history lost, again!

send it off to carb exchange, they will make it like brand new and all for about £80, bargain. or you can get rebuild kits for about £25 from most jeep suppliers as they are the same as oroginal carter.

Range Rover (not the Sport though) i am a landcruiser man through and through but when it came to getting the bigger family car last year i tried everything and i mean everything, resisted even avoided the range rovers until last as i was not a fan, until i tried one, had it a while now, done a lot of miles and still love it, fabulous car, and for the price they are now its amazing. we bought a TD6 model. parts are not too bad, apart from front air bellows (but how often will they need to be changed?) i service it myself and have had it plugged in once to reset service schedule by a local garage. the biggest whinge so far was a spare key costing £290!!!!. since buying mine 3 friends have also bought them a mixture of V8 and TD6, all love em. the problems with front diffs how now been sorted landrover did a recall on all range rover right back to 2002 models and fitted the new diff and front shafts, but do check that if you buy one it has been done as a few slipped trhough the loop im sure.
mind you still got my landcruiser for work and when the range rover packs up!
quick note - disco 3, if you have an engine problem they have to take the body off!!! something like 7 hours to remove!
