  1. yep you are correct the wheels were replaced with aec rims which stick out a bit i have both sets of wheels though

  8. hi guys just thought i would let you know we have got hold of another scammell for our collection which takes it to 4 explorers sat in our garage oh and i got a martian with it too oh and ive i managed to save a gmc 1009 and generator trailer from the scap better get a bigger shed soon good job ive got a understanding missus lol pics to follow watch this space!!!!!
  9. i never said anything about petrol ehhhhh its got a leyland t11 in it which enables it to actually reach top speed lol which is why i wondered if there was a way of up gearing it cheers chris
  10. anyone know if the gear ratios in a recovery martian are different to others or are they all slow as i think i may have got one
  11. thing is mine had the same problem heavy wine in sixth and vibration like you wouldnt believe in top gear i too a couple of years ago repaired the output shaft flange with shaft repairer to take up slack this worked well to remove the vibration but not the wine however what i have found is that although before a trip out i grease the props when you have done a few miles the vibration re appears until you get under with the grease gun i am traveling flat out though!! but i thing they are all the same or at least the 3 in me garage all do it

HI AFTER GOING TO A SHOW AT THE WEEKEND WITH THE SCAMMELL AND A SERIES LANDY DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY PICTURES OF AN A FRAME FOR SUSPENDED TOW OF A VEHICLE LIKE THIS AS WHEN I GOT TO THE SHOW THE LANDY DECIDED TO CROAK ON ME I ENDED UP RATCHET STRAPPING IT TO A BAR AND LIFTING HER UP THEN I HAD TO DRAG IT ROUND ALL WEEKEND WHAT A PAIN ANY PICS SO I CAN MAKE ONE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED CHRIS:nut:

Not sure of breed of engine as just saw it parked up in a yard and on the grill it said diesel but that was it i have yet to return to have a look just wanted an idea of what they go for, as the guy may want daft money for it and as i said i have never seen one for sale before to put a ruff price on it thanks chris
  17. hi anyone know what a recovery martian is worth its complete wants a clean up and a bit of paint but all working and is very reliable oh and its also a diesel not many of these turn up so i want an idea what its worth thanks chris

Thanks for that although the air pipes on mine when i got it had been removed and a blanking cap put on for what ever reason i can see no reason how this would work any different than what i have done, the brakes work fine and have never given any faults in my ownership i will keep quiet now as this is dragging on now cheers chris

Just so as there is no confusion on here the ball valves on my scammell are suitable for both air and oil they are just more heavily made to withstand more pressure than a standard brass ball valve (i have this on the data sheet from stauff) this info is just in case you like me didnt have any valves at all, and need to pull a trailer with air brakes like me hope this sorts the confusion chris
